KingsRoadCaptain
And I'm actually an Indian Test spinner from the 90s (http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/33044.html). You gotta love that moustache I used to have.I'm a former sydenhamite myself - used to live on Sydenham Road (number 126) right next to the former petrol station. However now, it seems to have been redeveloped along with my other former childhood home (Knighton Park Court). Oh well.Raju Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/9/#findComment-103232 Share on other sites

Moos
'Pride of ED' - perhaps should be an ale rather than a boozer?MP-alas, was late for a visit to the hairdresser and could not stop. Wish I had - the two hours and hundred quid I've just entirely wasted would have been far better spent in a pub and good company. Raarrrrr.Um, somewhat off topic. Enjoy the crreeekit. kristymac1
I'm so sorry to withdraw my offerings (hubbie and his mate) from the line-up at such a late stage (not my usual style at all honest) unfortunately baby has passed on a pretty nasty stomach bug resulting in 'runs' you really don't want at the cricket......So now not only do I have to look after the pair of them I also have to find some way to make up for the devastating loss of cricket, any ideas?Needless to say, wishing you all the best for the match tomorrow and definitely count us in for any return match/future matches (I will be sure to quarantine daughter for 7 days beforehand).Kristy x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/9/#findComment-103403 Share on other sites

mockney piers
Well, 9 made it (eventually), but the opposition were happy to lend us one of their spectators who happened to have played for Surrey under 16s, and jolly useful he was too.It was a tight game, played out in good spirit. We chalked up a total of 153 all out in 36 overs; special mention to Martin (Brendan's pal) who joined us last minute and retired on a classy half century. The SLP (or KRCSC) looked to be cruising to a relatively comfortable victory whnn our Keef changed the complexion of the game with two wickets in two balls and a stab at the hattrick, meaning the match headed to a tense, exciting finish.Despite Dems' best and terrifying fast-bowling efforts, the opposition went on to enjoy a 3 wicket victory. On a personal note I think I may have aggravated my sciatica when launching myself in a futile attempt to prevent a boundary, and am limping and groaning like an old man today. Al worth it though, and a good, fun day had by all.Still, looks like there'll be a home rematch in july/August, so perhaps the proximity will allow a full team to make it next time. Brendan
It was good fun wasn?t it, even if I did go out to a bad decision made by a clearly bias umpire. I?ve been giving this a bit of thought though lads. Analysing the match an? all that, and I think I have come up with what gave them that 3 wicket advantage. Caps it was. They were all wearing caps. The only member of our team to be wearing a cap was Martin and he made 50. Now you if you take into consideration that fact that all their caps were matching too, well we clearly had no chance with our lack of headwear. Although I don?t fancy orange baseball caps personally. I think we could find something a bit more fitting. Berets or flat caps perhaps? Deer stalkers? KingsRoadCaptain
Dear East Dulwich Forum/CPT,Thank you very much for an entertaining game and good banter yesterday. Whilst I may have given Keith the match ball for his 2 wickets of consecutive deliveries, leaving the match poised for a close finish - we have agreed that opener Martin is our man of the match for his undefeated half century. Before I release the final version of the scorecard, I'd like to ask a question or two. What was James' surname?Who was the 4th person to bowl for you? He bowled 2 overs from the kitbag end and was wearing a dark blue top?Can you confirm those who bowled for you - James, Martin, Matt Bailey (loaned from us!), Blue Top person from previous q, Dems, Brendon, Keith and Piers. The slots we have free are on Sunday 15th June (4 weeks time) and Saturday 26th July. Hope to see you soon and thanks a lot.RajuKRCSC captain Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/9/#findComment-103711 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Cheers for a good game Raj, and great gesture for Keef, I didn't realise you'd done that.Blue top was David Carnell, and I think he had 2 spells. Not sure of James' surname, perhaps James Absentminded? ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/9/#findComment-103715 Share on other sites
Keef
Completely agree with Martin as Man of the Match, not only was his batting great, but he also picked up a wicket. That said, I am well pleased with having the match ball! And damn it, I would have had the hatrick if Dems hadn't dropped the catch! ;-) Made up for my pathetic score of one run when "batting".With regards blue top man, I think you are actually talking about James. David Carnell (who had the light blue jumper) opened our bowling, and bowled his 7 overs (I think). James (who had a darker blue top) came in for a couple of overs a bit later. Brendan
Yes I think Keef is right. Blue top man who bowled from the kit bag end was James. Correct me if I?m wrong here David but David Carnell bowled all his overs from the other end. david_carnell
Keef is correct. James (Whitcombe) only bowled two overs before disappearing noa train back to Bath....with Piers's kit!Me, I bowled all 7 of my allowance.
