Have you changed anything you do or the way you think as a result of anything on this forum?

A small example occurred to me today as I got off the bus and picked up all of my newspaper - I used to leave the sports section and anything else I was finished for "others to read" but having been picked up on by (I think) Alan Dale and looking at the general mess on buses anyway I started to collect and take everything with me - dunno if that's any better or not but I wouldn't have changed my behaviour if it wasn't for discussion on here

Anyone else got any (and better) examples?

It's definitely changed the way I feel about the area, just my perception I'm sure, but I feel more of a sense of belonging and community. But that's a bit wishy-washy and I think you're looking for more definite answers, so lets see.

A year ago I would never have been brave enough to go to a pub to meet a group of people I'd never met and I had no idea how to make new friends. Most of our friends had moved away or settled down with young children and I was worried I might start to feel isolated. Definitely don't feel like that now.

Also, have had reusable bags for ages, but make much more of an effort to take them out now, not because I think it'll change the world, but because I can't face the disapproval ;-)

It has made me feel that I'm part of 'Forum Village life'

I feel like a member of a nonexistent club.

Like annaj said, it makes me feel differently about the area but in a good way.

I am getting out more, into a local pub every month getting as drunk as a skunk and sick as a dog, yes it has improved my life enormously.

I have bought products from shops recommended from here, that I otherwise would not have discovered.

I sit at the front of the house more in front of the computer screen, when I would normally have been at the rear watching the tv screen, so I am getting more exercise;-)

    • So let's never do anything that might improve an area, because it will just be dragged down to the level of what's presently there? Is that what you are saying? I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.
