Last orders at the Tulip Cafe..today

Recommended Posts

I am said wife, and did not screech! Just got a bit over excited as had been complaining that despite Pulling supposidly being set in Peckham there has not ever been any Peckham sights to be seen. Then low and behold a scene in the Tulip Cafe. Walked past today and noticed it had closed. V sad.

Jaflong bangladeshi and indian cuisine has opened today and guess what? It's ram packed already whilst the others are empty, probably because they have a special offer, can't be because of its good tasty food as it's only just opened.:-S

I must admit to some disappointment that yet ANOTHER Indian restaurant has opening on LL - it's not as if we are short of them. I like the Bangladeshi food I've had on Brick Lane - and will give Jaflong a go but something different would have been nice.

I wandered down the Lane about 40 mins after karters posts - Jaflong wasn't full but busy enough but I noticed several diners in most of the other establishments - Tandoori Nights was rammed as usual

What surprised me about Jaflong was the lack of menu outside the restaurant

karter when will u learn I'm always right ;-) :p

pgc I'm guessing it's not illegal to not put it prominently in the window but has to be in a visable place, where ever it may be. A bit like a pubs licence must be displayed to the public... that could b anyhere tho.

    • We’re happy at purple jay Herne Hill (on greendale).    In my experience and some friends, calling lots closer to start time might get you a spot! We were lucky previously and someone changed their days for us so we could have a spot.    and have been on a waitlist for more than a year somewhere else but without chasing wouldn’t have received a spot.
    • Also adding a recommendation here for Andy (who I found here on this forum). He and another colleague decorated and replaced the floor in our living room (laminate replaced with LVT). He was really helpful in giving us suggestions beforehand, like what to prepare to make their job as efficient as possible, ideas of different styles for trims and features to help us make final decisions, and recommended places to source some of the materials we needed. Really happy we got them in - they were efficient and polite and we felt comfortable having them having them in our home. They finished in good time and we're so happy in the newly updated space! Thanks Andy.
    • Depends on which side of the tracks you are on in FH, here is the latest Rightmove listings for SE23, you can buy a nice property for well less that that magic £2m. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/find.html?searchType=SALE&locationIdentifier=OUTCODE^2324&insId=1&radius=0.0&minPrice=&maxPrice=&minBedrooms=&maxBedrooms=&displayPropertyType=&maxDaysSinceAdded=&_includeSSTC=on&sortByPriceDescending=&primaryDisplayPropertyType=&secondaryDisplayPropertyType=&oldDisplayPropertyType=&oldPrimaryDisplayPropertyType=&newHome=&auction=false
    • Piplings has gone downhill massively - I know several parents who have pulled their kids out in the last 18 months. I don't have firsthand experience, but lots of negative feedback from local families. The building is also up for sale so you might find the nursery closes when that sale goes through...
