In todays Sunday Times apparently;

'Southwark levied ?2.5 million of camera fines in three months from 2 schemes- the 1 in Dulwich Village generated 22,424 fines in 7 weeks. These are generally ?130 each or half that if paid within 14 days'

Does anyone actually still believe that these LTN's, road closures, cameras & parking bays/meters are for anything other than making money for Southwark council?!

Are we going to let them carry on treating us residents like idiots?

Put up not anti Road Closure poster, fill in the consultation & get involved otherwise we will all be accepting this nonsense

{Great, every one on display counts.

The deal is ?5 per sign, so you probably need two so you get one facing each way to the traffic and ?5 for the pole if you need one.

Please PM with your phone number and we can discuss collection/delivery.

YAWN... it doesn't normally take much to bring the old "I'm not racist, but..." gang out to play - in this case absolutely no-one made any comment of this nature whatsoever, but still here we are.

It's worth remembering that the Dulwich Alliance were themselves quick to recognise that their BLM appropriating posters did cause offence and quite rightly removed them.

So each sign is costing ?15 - excellent! I guess, like the fines, its totally optional so up to people what they want to spend their cash on.

@kntrade,

I find it very sad that you have taken such a cynical stance.

We are actually subsidising the cost of the signs. Our actual cost is ?5.40 each. They are made by Xpress signs in Sydenham.

I am quite prepared to show the invoice to you and anyone who wants to view it but should you be in doubt, ask any supplier for a quotation for the following:

1. Correx sign 5mm thick.

2. Size 705mm x 705mm

3. Two colour print.

4. Qty = 50

5. Inclusive of delivery.

If you come up with a better price, let us know.

This is a community project and not a profit-orientated venture. In addition, the make up of the signs/poles and their installation is being done free of charge. To make the poles secure and vandal-proof, they have to be securely fixed and this is most often to brick/concrete walls which requires a fair amount of time and effort.

So kindly spare us cynicism. It is unjustified and inappropriate.

Excellent suggestion about the shops on LL.

So far we have been door-knocking on EDG only as we are EDG residents primarily. It's a long street and it takes time to visit and discuss matters!

We would be delighted if some of the shops displayed our signs because I understand many are suffering badly.

If you or they want to obtain signs, please PM me a phone number and we can discuss. We can also deliver depending on where they are needed..

These road closures are so unfair, unjustified and damaging to many that we will do anything we can to assist other with expressing their views.

Please consider saving the attached photo on your phone and showing it to others who may want to help the cause.

    • So. Last night Royal Mail customer service kept me waiting a quarter of an hour with no indication of the wait time,  then closed the service down at 6.30pm. This morning I waited half an hour to speak to someone.   First they told me to make a claim via their website, then reluctantly agreed they could do it on the phone. They required both my and my daughter's name, addresses, postcodes and email addresses, plus my phone number. WHY? THEN they told me a CHEQUE for £9.85 would be sent to my address!!!!!! No compensation for everybody's wasted time, just the Special Delivery (hollow laugh) fee back. I did point out a) we weren't in the Stone Age and b) this cheque would probably either never arrive or be stuck for months in the local delivery office beneath mounds of other mail which never gets delivered. I felt very sorry for this guy. I hope he is well paid. What a terrible job to have. So now, assuming I ever get the cheque, I will have to queue up at the Post Office to pay it in. Having already queued up to post an item for a non existent service in the first place. GRRRRR. Can I be bothered to write to the CEO? No, probably not. I'll just get some bland standard letter back sent by some other poor person with a terrible job.
    • Thank you for the warning. There have been instances of vulnerable people targeted by scammers in this area, so we do need to be mindful of our neighbours.
    • Lots of very good places around Rye Lane. I'd say there are the long-standing great places like Levan, Mr Bao, Oi Spaghetti, Peckham Bazaar and (towards Bellenden Rd) Begging Bowl, Made of Dough, and Artusi.  And then the newer places that we've been enjoying include Janda Diner, Taquiza, Hausu, En Root, Messy Mary (currently at Copeland Social). We are spoilt for choice really! Depends what you're looking for - some of the above are cheap and cheerful, others much more fancy
    • Yep dangerous and worrying and plenty on here seem to either not grasp that or are perfectly ok with it - which is more worrying you think cancerian or any other reform voter will be any happier if reform win? Sure, just like Brexit they will laugh at the lib-tears but as reality hits, nothing but more anger and complaints   And as we see with Brexit and Trump, finding out too late doesn't solve anything
