DM you have soooo many characters in your play, although your habit of playing a nun, sweet as she is, I, like all red blooded males, prefer the practical lady with the duster.

She is far more use than a nun, on bended knee umpteen times a day, who believes 'oral' is singing along with the choir.

Michael, I'm a dedicated buffer of my own handrail, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The finish is of the best quality, and of course the elbow grease and polishing are of a vigour and

application that can only be properly applied first hand.

It's the only way.

....................(sigh)

The publisher I was signed with has gone into liquidation. So many of the people who published through them will never receive any of the royalties, it is so very dreadful indeed to see all of their hopes and dreams disappear into smoke.

I broke my contract with them in February, when I got a super smart agent who read my contract and informed me that this publisher and contract was absolutely shite. I am so relieved to be away from them, but so sorry for so many of their lovely authors... I may even open a bottle or two. I think I may need to lie down.

Or, perhaps I will go shopping instead!

Afterall, in the words of Scarlet O'Hara; "tomorrow is another day!"

I think that I will incorporate the entire fiasco of the liquidated publisher in my revised manuscript! You know that I find inspiration simply everywhere. I shall right now incorporate a portly red faced red head with no conscience and an emormous beer gut into my plot! Hurrah.

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain. • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
    • It's Inner London. You could move somewhere else?
