We recently went to the Rosendale in West Dulwich which has a tiny little play area apart from the tables but still visible, which was great. Hoping for more of the same. I once heard the pub near the back exit of Forest a hill Station had a play area but unconfirmed.

The Allinone behind Forest Hill station has a large garden. The owners were running it down a couple of years ago as there was permission to turn it into a boutique hotel. They'd got rid of the kitchen which was a shame. The deal fell through but I have not visited it since the lockdowns - must make an effort.

Incidentally it is a Victorian pub with a 1940s add on, there is some lovely unspoiled oak panelling in the old dinning room, similar to the Ivy. I'm sure it is worth a try. There was a play area, but as with the Blythe, this may have been sacrificed for more table.

Fullers and Youngs in particular have both sold out. Perhaps that is a discussion for another thread!

The Dolphin in Sydenham is a further alternative although I'm not happy with the change to yet another pizza place. The owner of this and the Dartmouth in Forest Hill helped to introduce gastro to pubs just outside the area.

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/

    • I would recommend Coopers bakehouse, which offer a similar service to B&C but it’s just focussed on really good bread, decent prices and keeps for ages (also freezes well).  Delivered by bike.
