yeknomyeknom
Does anyone know of any localish pubs with a slide or play area or space for a child to play a little outside? Used to be loads when I was a child (crosses fingers and hopes this doesn?t turn into a thread about the suitability of kids in pubs). Ronnijade
I think the Herne Tavern still has a big play area! I used to love that place as a kid. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/286034-pub-with-play-area/#findComment-1515211 Share on other sites
smooch
No the Herne Tavern playground went about 5 years ago. I think with table service/seating at all times it means it has not been allowed to be walking around - perhaps that will change june 21st? yeknomyeknom
We recently went to the Rosendale in West Dulwich which has a tiny little play area apart from the tables but still visible, which was great. Hoping for more of the same. I once heard the pub near the back exit of Forest a hill Station had a play area but unconfirmed.https://www.therosendale.co.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/286034-pub-with-play-area/#findComment-1515234 Share on other sites
newresidentindulwich
The Paxton used to have a decent play area pre-covid... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/286034-pub-with-play-area/#findComment-1515254 Share on other sites
malumbu
The Allinone behind Forest Hill station has a large garden. The owners were running it down a couple of years ago as there was permission to turn it into a boutique hotel. They'd got rid of the kitchen which was a shame. The deal fell through but I have not visited it since the lockdowns - must make an effort.Incidentally it is a Victorian pub with a 1940s add on, there is some lovely unspoiled oak panelling in the old dinning room, similar to the Ivy. I'm sure it is worth a try. There was a play area, but as with the Blythe, this may have been sacrificed for more table. malumbu
Fullers and Youngs in particular have both sold out. Perhaps that is a discussion for another thread! The Dolphin in Sydenham is a further alternative although I'm not happy with the change to yet another pizza place. The owner of this and the Dartmouth in Forest Hill helped to introduce gastro to pubs just outside the area.
