I'm registered there - trying to be diplomatic, I opt to see the female GP rather than the male one. I found her incredibly helpful over the last couple of years.

The practice nurse is fine, offer some decent services. Booking appointments.... if you don't mind who you see then you can get an appt fairly promptly, if you are specific it can take a week. Having said that, i've had some same day appts by getting cancellation appts.

I really like them here - I've been with them for 10 years and they're really helpful. If ever I've needed an appointment for one of the children I always get one that day which I think is brilliant. Saying that luckily most of our ailments over the years have been very minor - not sure what they're like for serious issues. x
The only problem we have had in 15 or so years is that after having routine check-up blood tests I was supposed to contact them to enquire after results (which I wasn't told) whereas if there is a problem with the blood tests then my experience with other surgeries is that they will contact you.

Unfortunately, we're not in the catchment area for The Gardens and DMC are a nightmare. Looking for somewhere where you can book an appointment without having to wait 3 weeks and the doctors are half decent! Doesn't seem to be easy.

I hear lots of good things about The Gardens, so it's a real shame we can't register.

    • Well I did say I stand to be corrected! Fair enough, their website only seemed to list three branches. Perhaps it's a franchise model?  It's known as 'agglomeration' in economics Rookie error.
    • I didn't know there was a word for that — thanks!
    • This is just normal business behaviour. That's why there are so many coffee shops in ED and shops selling gifts and interiors stuff, clothes, restaurants.  If there's more than one business of a similar type then it can benefit all of them up to a saturation point and keep up quality. It's all sounding like many think Chango has made a malicious move when it actually sounds like it's owned by one guy who has a good business that has done well.   Anyway this is all great advertising for both empanada places. Very close by is the organic grocer who sells really good value and very tasty samosas and other Indian snacks which are also worth trying.
