Personally i'm torn between the classic Stirrup Pump

http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/Images/Stirrup_pump.jpg

and the Garden Flame Thrower.

I'm not sure which i'd rather own, just for the sake-of-owning-one.

( I think the flamethrower is edging it - tho in my dream i'm floating down lordship lane in a canoe during a flood, I see that well know Dub-Duo bobbing along in their silly truck but they've snagged them selves on a lampost outside the ED Deli. The not bald one is trying to fish a soggy loaf out of the flood water with a colander on a stick, he panics and tries to hide under the damp tonneau cover. But too late, I pull the Garden-Flame-Thrower up and pump the trigger - and a 40ft flame licks across the water, torching the sound system and truck into dust. And as I float by the not bald one & the nearly bald one bob in the murky water - eyes blinking, smarting from the heat - all in slow mo.

"Why" they mouth

"Why not, it's my dream" I mouth back, giving the trigger one last blast & setting the hanging basket on the lampost alight..)

My tool of choice is a big feck-off cleaver that I use for almost all cutting in the kitchen, I'll post a photo later.

I swear by the mean Mother, which has chopped and peeled its way through many a beast and vegetable, and also the odd finger. Still sharp after 15 years. Bought in NE Thailand.

Also cuts Japanese knotweed and carpet underlay.

how do you sharpen it?

C'mon PR - that's not a tool. Someting to fix the bike perhaps?

Anyway, I'd nominate two things. First, a polishing mitt - keeps shoes shinier than ever before:

And then something I desire - an adze. It's like a curved axe used for hollowing out wood. You can make a bowl or a canoe.

You're a genius David

That's the canoe in my dream surely.

(watch out the pesky dub-duo, dreams can come true!)

    • It happened again tonight. This time a group of kids ( I hate saying that, because it makes them sound less intimidating than they are), threatened to throw a water bomb at me. When I dared them, they started lobbing them. Then they started saying they were going to kill my dog and one of them jumped over the fence of the Japanese Garden and took a running kick at my dog, who got out of the way. He jumped back over the fence, then came back, came within a meter of me and threw a water bomb really hard at me.  I can't be sure it was exactly the same crowd as last time, though I suspect the male ring leader could be.  The police came and were amazing - as was the park warden - and are fairly confident of the identity of one of them and think they may have tried to arrest him before.  There were maybe as many as 15 of them, aged 16-18, all Caucasian, girls and boys (girls being just as aggressive as the boys). The ring leader is a slight man, dark hair / eyes, possibly with facial hair about 5'6", petite, wearing an all-blue tracksuit.  So please be careful when you're in the park around 6.30 / 7pm. The local SNT have been informed.
