Mrs Keef and I are both desperate for a break, having not been away in over a year. We have been thinking of just going somewhere next week, for anything from 3 to 7 nights. Don't mind if it's UK or abroad, camping or hotel, we just want to get away and relax.

I know it's easter hols, so not the cheapesttime, but we don't have a lot of choice, so has anyone got any suggestions that won't break the bank?

Neither of us drive by the way.

Keycamp do short time deals and quite cheap, they have a site close to Paris and so you could train it.

or try ETAP hotels in France - they have double rooms that come in at less than ?30 a night B&B, I have stayed in the one that they have in Northern Paris - you could then get the Eurostar, cheap flight or even a coach to Paris.

Keef, anything you particularly want from your holiday?

Beach? City break? Culture? Food?

I'd second the Budapest idea, it's gorgeous, although after three/four days you'll be bored and the food's terrible unless you have an unnatural fondness for paprika. The Guardian recommended Bucharest as a new hip & happenin' place with a great bar and club scene - personally I thought it was the biggest sh*thole I'd ever been to.

SanSebastian is meant to be amazing.

Southern Italy might be nice this time of year. Couple of days in say Bari or Lecce and a few on a beach somewhere nearby. Food'll be good if you want that - some Moorish ruins to wander round.

could you wait one week til the hols are over? everything is twice the price! i say this wishing we didnt have to obey the laws of school holidays ourselves.

but if you do stay in the UK,

national trust holiday cottages has a special offer section with 20% off for late bookings.

so does landmark trust. you could stay in a house shaped like a pineapple in scotland.

Hi guys, thanks for the ideas, will look in to them all. Unfortunately Mrs Keef will be back teaching the kiddies the following week, so we're stuck. It's such a bloody con the amount the prices are pushed up!

As fr what we want, I guess we want to chill out and relax, but nice food and things to see / god walks would be nice. Beaches get very boring after about an hour if you're not in to sunbathing, and neither of us are really.

Keef, I would personally go to Devon or Cornwall, great walks, pubs and a bit of sea to listen to. All these European suggestions are very good, but be prepared for them to cost you considerably more than the last time you went to the Continent, the ? is being hammered by the ? at the moment...

    • Hallo As far as I know  info you have quoted is wrong.  You can phone for an appointment although I have always found it easier to do online. Go to their website for info on how to book appointments Any requests I have made have been reviewed and answered by a GP within 4 hours
    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
