Jah Lush
Cheers Lozzyloz. Saw Black Uhuru supporting the Stones back in '82 and Shine Eye Gal is one of my favourite tracks of theirs. Saw this lot too around the same time. giggirl
Just a reminder to everyone that the OASIS tour goes on sale tomorrow (Weds 20th August). Two nights at Wembley.http://www.oasisinet.com/Forthcoming.aspxStrange that there's no Manchester gig on the list but I'm sure they'll get round to adding one some time.PRODIGY is playing Brixton and that goes on sale on Thursday.DUFFY also playing Brixton but avoid that one - it's a terrible venue for her.METALLICA playing London (O2 I think) next month and that will go on sale this week but I'm not sure exactly when. I'm told that the tickets will only cost ?5 each. I was about 14 the last time I paid ?5 to get into a gig. SeanMacGabhann
That 'orrible Dancing in the Streets thing was the compromise after a proposed trans-atlantic duet was mooted and ruled out for Live Aid. I know it was all done within 12 hours or something but still* shudders *good call on Absolute Beginners Jah - great song (same band as the Dancing in the Streets thing as well) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/304-music-room-its-fully-soundproofed/page/52/#findComment-127273 Share on other sites

Brendan
Definitely up for Metallica. I had tickets for them last year but stupidly double booked them with my summer Holiday. So I gave my ticket to a friend of mine. Only ?5 too! Jah Lush
Jeez! I'd almost forgotton about Joe Jackson. I remember seeing him do a really good set at the Crystal Palace Concert Bowl supporting Bob Marley in 1980.Which reminds me, this is a classic clip and great song. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Stir It UpOooooohhhhhh you got to see Bob Marley. Impressed. Someone invited me to go see him at the Rainbow (I think?) and I turned them down. I thought I would catch him next time he rolled into town. Then he died. Rude, don?t you think? He?s not the only one with bad manners though:Ray Charles ? had front row seats at Hammersmith Apollo ? died ? got refunded ? RUDENina Simone ? had row 6 seats at the Albert Hall ? died ? got refunded ? RUDEThe above two came quite close together so I saw a pattern forming and got a little freaked; stopped buying tickets for a while (it was only fair really). Jah Lush
Hmmm...I've been offered tickets for forthcoming gigs by Jerry Lee Lewis (100 Club) and Little Richard and for the same reasons I don't want to tempt fate as they are both getting on a bit. giggirl
More on the METALLICA gig next month:It's at O2 on 15th September. Apparently the reason that they're knocking the tickets out for just ?5 each is that the gig is a thank you to fans. I'm rather touched by this because the likes of the Stones and U2 just want to squeeze every last ??? from their fans.Anyway, if you want to go to this then you should go to www.metallica.com and sign up pretty quick. They are likely to close the door on people signing up just to get tickets so don't hang about. These tickets won't go on general sale. Jah Lush
A fiver! That's brilliant value even if I'm not much of a fan of Metallica I think that's a very honourable thing to do for their fans. As much as I love the Stones seeing them the O2 last year the tickets were ?150 each although luckily for me I didn't have to pay as a friend who was a big cheese at EMI until his recent redundancy got me the tickets for nothing. giggirl
Nobody tops the Stones when it comes to greed, except maybe Madonna. But they're a great band so I stumped up the ?150 (didn't go to O2 but went to Twickenham). What can you do? Stay home - I don't think so. Jah Lush
I saw them in Nice the year before and they were the best I'd ever seen them and I haven't missed a tour since I first saw them in '76. Luckily I didn't have to pay for those tickets either. But, really it's not like they need the money and ?150 is just a rip-off even if they living legends and the best live act around.Let's put 'em on anyway...I bloody love the Stones. giggirl
When the Foo Fighters were just starting out they supported the Stones. Guess what - the Stones wouldn't give them a guest list - made them pay for tickets - how tacky is that. Jah Lush
Too many reggae artists died too young, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Junior Byles, Keith Hudson and King Tubby went far too early and I could name plenty more.Anyway here's a Lee "Scratch" Perry produced classic.Fisherman - The Congos Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/304-music-room-its-fully-soundproofed/page/52/#findComment-127632 Share on other sites
