mockney piers
Should this be the unofficial forum anthem? The Fiery Furnaces - Restorative Beerps, not a youtube clip, if you're blocked, it's pitchfork media, may have to search it a bit more often as it goes. barrymarshall
close - the drag queen is Sweden's most famous. Can't remember her/his name but shouldn't be too hard to find on t'Net. The Knife are actually brother and sister Olof and Karin Drejer. The brother is the one who dances with the tranny. Karin is the one sat down at the end of the vid.She also did vocals on Royksopp's "What Else is There?" - so there's the connection! mockney piers
Aaaaah, I knew I'd heard that voice before. Best song on that album as it goes, and the vocals really make it. barrymarshall
Yeah - f-ing brilliant track. The Knife also wrote the song "Heartbeats", which was covered by Jose Gonzalez and used in that TV advert with the bouncing balls.EDIT: Linky Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/304-music-room-its-fully-soundproofed/page/27/#findComment-49963 Share on other sites

barrymarshall
Yeah, he's alright. I am normally a bit dubious about some of the more recent singer-songwriter types, but I liked the atmosphere on his Veneer record and he did a good job with Heartbeats, too. mockney piers
I know what you mean.I can't hear the name James Blunt, without thinking "His parrot's a c*nt" for some reason.I hope this fella isn't one of your dubious modern singer-songer writershttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktxy7ikUKjMAlthough he does have a weird David Gray style head wobble. barrymarshall
Oh yeah, I do like Andrew Bird! :)Got his album, The Mysterious Production of Eggs, somewhere at home. Funny, never seen what he looks like. I thought he might be fatter and more bald ... mockney piers
LOL, nice one in a horrid sort of way.Yeah, know what you mean about Andrew Bird, he's such a full voice you'd think he's a bit more rotund. His new album, while not exactly a masterpiece, doesn't have any weak songs, which is a pretty good achievement. As it's become something of a comfort album for me, I keep playing it while I'm waiting to get on a plane, which is why I wish it didn't start with 'fiery crash' a song about falling asleep on the plastic airport seating and waking up to a vision of plunging into the earth in a fireball at 600mph. It's not doing me any favours!! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/304-music-room-its-fully-soundproofed/page/27/#findComment-50082 Share on other sites
Keef
The Andrew Bird comment reminded me of when I first hear Anistasia *shudders*, I was expecting a Gloria Gaynoresque woman. Got quite a shock when I saw this speccy skinny blonde white bird. mockney piers
M?m return with a new album. Here are a couple of samples. They've lost the Valtysdottir twins who provided those dreamy and unsettling trademark voices.http://mp3.insound.com/download.php?mp3id=3194&filetype=.mp3http://www.chromewaves.net/mp3/Mum-DancingBehindMyEyelids.mp3On the strength of these I'm a bit unsure as to the new direction, though the second is stronger.
