I used to like him.

Then I went to see him live and realised that there wasn't any sense of irony in the lad. I'd always thought he got the joke, but he doesn't, and his fans were even worse, absolutely insufferable.

My friends and I retreated to a pub within 20 minutes.

He can still write a decent tune admittedly, but I haven't bought anything since that experience.

So I offer up a bunch of aussies who definitely get the joke :D

I'm glad he can, but just goes to show how important it is to keep up your sense of humour ;)

I have to say I've never seen the Flaming Lips do anything but be absolutely 100 percent up for a gig; if they can do it....

They should be an inspiration to every band who's ever dared to charge more than 20 quid per person to come and see them play live.

On which note...

Ah, very good, excellent electro-pop. I'm a big fan.

    • Ah but they do -  Janet Kay as well on Monday, but sadly I am away.  Surely nobody can complain about some Lovers Rock.  Surely.....
    • I am not here to justify or excuse Lambeth Council's decisions,  but you would have to be very very naive not to understand that cancelling several eventsof that size at auch short notice would be anything other than financially catastrophic for all involved.
    • I think it demonstrates the lengths councils will go to to appease commercial stakeholders and prioritise them over local residents and their own constituents. Councils appear to become very myopic once revenue is involved....
