Jah - how were the Handsome Family? I'm very jealous I didn't get to go.....hope it was a good 'un.


Anyhoo....have some Kenny Anderson. Because he deserves a greater audience than he gets, because he's excellent and because I know some people will like it....

I wasn't overly familiar with their stuff but the little that I'd heard I'd really liked. They were excellent and I really enjoyed their set. I liked the humour in the darkness of the lyrics and and the harmonies were beautiful so I'll definitely be investing in some of their CDs as soon as possible.

Wot?s post rock? Is it like post punk? (An odd fabrication in itself) or is it posties rocking out in their spare time? Or 9 minute long power ballads with 5 minute guitar solos about missing parcels? Or angry 1 minute long 3 chord rants about stupid posts on internet forums? Or the official music of the Society for the Provision of Support for Fences? Or an obscure musical genre inspired by the ever present but often undervalued need to keep telephone lines out of the road?

Like most labels it's meaningless in itself.


It's basically Prog (oops, another label) with louder guitars and bigger sounds.


God Speed You Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, 65 Days of Static etc are probably the most famous post rockers.


Or according to wikipedia on one of it's uncensored pages "It is the use of 'rock instrumentation' for non-rock purposes. Practitioners of the genre's style typically produce instrumental music."

Which sounds like nonsense to me.

      My dog has to be medicated to cope with  bonfire night. She’s a rescue so I don’t know what traumatic abuse she experienced. I love the fact that you, Dave CPR, are so unaware of how another can be affected by something that does not personally affect yourself. Blissful ignorance. Lack of Empathy. Cold hearted.

      Not fair on the patients or the consultants, either.  My brother's an ED consultant and he is on his knees - they all have the flu but have to work through it, because it's so busy at this time of year. Adding the strike to this just makes everything feel even more impossible and he's pretty low right now.

      These very anti social fireworks went on for at least fifteen years and were unbearable for both humans and pets.    Was extremely relieved that they moved a couple of years ago.  Never experienced such close proximity loud fireworks before.   But the ones that go off in the middle of the night are also very upsetting and annoying.
