The tall blonde is Veronique, one of the co-owners and the dog is her Newfoundland.:))

I dont know - the Herne is pretty good value for a night out at the weekend or even for a lazy saturday / sunday afternoon. A nice bunch running it, good food and good beer. Its my pub of chouce bya country mile (noted there are way to many kids in the summer etc etc).

A coffee shop on my doorstep offering pastries made by Newfoundland owning French women seems too good to be true.

Any news on Anatolia? It says closed for refurb on the window but not much action within.. A Turkish Meze restaurant like Tas would be fab (unlikely I know).

I hope this new place will serve decent, inexpensive (healthy) food in addition to coffee. It will be right by Peckham Rye park, and the new cafe there is almost a victim of its own success. I waited 45 minutes last week for a sandwich to be made. In the end I told them I had to go and would have a sandwich at home instead. Good to hear there will be another coffee shop near by too.

I popped in this morning. They won't be ready for Monday, but say it will be one day next week that they'll open. They'll be putting the finishing touches together and practising their coffe making skills over the next few days. :))

bon3yard - Although they won't need a chef there. Veronique does own a catering company, so if you want to go and have a chat with her she'll see what she can do for you. (No promises, but good luck :)-D )

    • Sounds a horrible, random attack, quite possibly for social media clicks, or some kind of sick initiation into goodness knows what - it is reported they were filming the incident. I do not really doubt that any of this is true. Perhaps the friend who reported it elsewhere does not want to be identifiable? There has been an emerging issue with different types of anti-social teenage/ young adult behaviour on the Rye this summer and this latest incident indicates a tipping point into something much nastier. The park should be a safe and enjoyable space for all.
