Does anyone have the email for the manager at Peckham Sorting Office?

the address I had before bounced.

I think the email addresses are 'personal' - that is they are to a person, not a role.

Remember there are 2 DO managers both based in Peckham - one for their original DO and one for SE22/ East Dulwich. The SE22/ ED one is I believe temporary! And (according to one postie I have talked to) inexperienced.

One of my parcels still hasn't turned up, so at least on the round I'm on, nothing is being delivered.

There are Royal Mail vans going around, I saw one parked outside Sainsbury's Local today and another parked outside the telephone exchange on Friday, but nothing for my address.

Article in yesterday's Sunday Times about the mess the PO is in. Apparently, posties all over the country are saying that they've been told to prioritise parcels and just leave the letters, but the management is denying this, of course.

It's Royal Mail, not the Post Office. In East Dulwich it's the parcels and large letters that are not being delivered.

My Covid tests for the ONS survey were despatched on 2nd November, for a testing window which will close on Thursday - no sign of them yet!

But I did get some mail today, including bills late but still within the payment window and a (late) credit card. However, the fact that my MP had written on my behalf might be a part explanation. There is still a bunch of stuff not yet delivered!

I am in Underhill Road. Since June this year it takes over one month to receive tracked Royal Mail Parcels.

As with everyone else in SE22 exceptionally bad Royal Mail deliveries have been normal since Sylvester Rd Depot was closed.

This is not anything to do with the RM Posties who deliver the post. This is totally to do with Royal Mail management both locally and nationally. They do not give a shit!

Otherwise why would they have not improved the service when our MP, Helen Hayes, complained over 4 years ago and continues to complain to RM now.

Royal Mail management know they can get away with a bad service, unfortunately it looks like the company has massive debts so their service will only go in one direction. Downhill.

I applied to take part in the Royal Mail Quality of Service Survey conducted by Spectos

Mailagents.

Unsurprisingly , two weeks later I haven't received the introductory letter . I've just received an email from them asking why I haven't activated my account ( I need the letter to do this ) . They go on to blame any delay on the strikes .

I will persevere so they have some evidence of how appalling the service is

We got 6 issues of a weekly magazine of our daughter's arrive today.

The issues are dated early September through to mid/late October.

They may be clearing the old stuff, but clearly newer stuff is backing up as they do, as the magazine is still 3 weeks behind.

It's a cheek that they still call it a postal "service" tbh.

As for packages, I've had to stop ordering anything from anyone who only uses Royal Mail.

Packages don't turn up and are un-trackable – they're often not even marked as delivered when they finally are!

“As for packages, I've had to stop ordering anything from anyone who only uses Royal Mail.”

Many small specialist companies, and some of the big ones, only use Royal Mail meaning often the only realistic alternative is Amazon who make enough money already.

I finally received some post today. Private Eye from a fortnight ago, utility vouchers posted on the 3rd November, one of the three parcels I'm waiting for and a whole load of junk.

Ironically it seems to be postcode related as in SE22 I too had my almost-2-weeks-late copy of Private Eye delivered yesterday. My son living just a 15 minute walk away in SE21 had his latest one delivered this morning. I pay for both subscriptions but am thinking of cancelling mine as I have had to buy the last two editions locally. I was wondering if Royal Mail could be sued for withholding my property without a legitimate excuse!

Ironically it seems to be postcode related as in SE22...

No irony, the problem lies specifically with the Delivery Office (moved from Silvester Road in East Dulwich to Peckham, 4 years ago) which is designated East Dulwich/ SE22. So when that fails it is SE22 deliveries that suffer. Other DOs locally are working better (well, some of them,

Of course, but when a next day paid delivery takes 3 weeks to arrive, by that point those very same business are often having to reship items for customers and then chase Royal Mail for compensation, which costs them time and money too.

My glasses broke recently so ordered new ones online with next day delivery, and they took a month to arrive during which i had to get through with glasses with one lens!

Since my earlier post, I got in touch with one of the companies who use RM to see if they could ship an order by EVRI or DPD. They were very accommodating and I doubt if all companies would be quite so helpful but I guess it’s worth asking.

I had two deliveries in the end, packages from the normal postie and then this afternoon another one drove up in a rental van with letters, which included my appointment which is for Tuesday so only just arrived in time.

Still no current Private Eye though.

    • My understanding is the "free event" is 100% Gala, nothing to do with the council. Obviously Gala will still make money from the food & drink that they are trying to coerce punters into buying on their social media posts. Their costs will be negligible due to already having the infrastructure in place for Gala. So Gala are trying to appear community minded by providing this "free event", but the real goal is to set a precedent for a fourth day's festival - which surely no one could possibly object to?!? - in preparation for applying (again) for two three-day festivals spread over two weekends. It's only another two days, right, and the site & equipment is already there, so why would anyone object?!? More money for the council, much more money for Gala, win-win right? But yet another week of our park taken away from us, too, and another 18,000 people trampling & littering the park, and another week of disturbance for the native birds & wildlife...
    • Meson Don Felipe on The Cut was my go to place for many years. Though it's now many years since I was there. 10-15 minute walk from the Tate. If you go can you tell me what it's like nowadays?
    • Doubt you would have got much change out of £150.00 for battery and certainly having forked out for it, best to use your car. I recently sold  my car via webuyanycar.com - very pleasant experience & was roughly what I was expecting. Pop your bangers reg jnto their website to get an idea of price - they do send e mails once a fortnight/month just as an aid for you. Easy enough to delete - don’t even have to read valuation. They literally buy any car - if you can’t get it to them, they will charge you to get it there or recommend a co that will do it for you. Must say, mine was a 2014 reg and whilst a bit suspicious, paid extra to get money into my account as needed it for next car but was assured funds had I not gone down route I took would be in my account within 5 days. I now live in the country - every time I have been back to Dulwich and surrounding area, normally get a fine for driving at wrong time or parking at  wrong time so if I drive now, park in West or East Dulwich and do everything else by public transport and walking.  Were I still to be living in ED then before I left was pondering this very issue but since I have been back regularly for health reason I no longer drive but take the train and then buses, walk or Uber. Much cheaper than running a car and had I stayed, that would have been the course I would have taken. I don’t go out everyday, have an allotment or job to go to or family so in my case, would be cheaper not to have a car.  Was truely shocked   at the cost of second hand cars…..but where I now live only has a smattering of buses so no choice but to have wheels to get from A to B etc.
    • If you don't use the car often then suggest disconnect the battery between use by undoing the earth (negative / minus sign) cable from the battery and the battery will then last longer between use. Remember, central locking, alarm, clock, etc won't work with battery disconnected and wit ours I have to lock the doors with central locking before disconnecting battery as only have key on one door (leave bonnet open before locking doors). Hope this helps
