The current development work at London Bridge station will allow for more trains to run through to Charing Cross. As far as I can tell (I could be wrong on this), the exact shape of the subsequent timetable changes are yet to be decided. I am wondering therefore, whether we may have an opportunity to campaign for an extension to ED train service - through to Waterloo and Charing Cross. Does anyone know if anything is already underway in this respect? Are Southwark Council using their influence?
Isn't this campaign just a little late - 5 maybe even 10 years too late. Works to railways have to go through an extensive governmental/public/safety approval process. Whilst the timetable may not be finalised, surely that only means at what times past the hour the trains (already programmed for that route) go, not which ones.
Isn't the London Bridge to Charing Cross service via Waterloo East closing down soon? I'm sure I read somewhere that it's stopping for a few years. If/when it reopens, trains might be less frequent afterwards as more trains will go straight through to CX without stopping at London Bridge.

I believe that the Charing Cross trains are not stopping at London Bridge for the next year or two as they work on the new platforms (I guess, in order to allow those services which terminate at LB to continue running by utilising platforms usually taken up by the through trains). I believe that after that period they will be reinstated however and that there may be increased capacity.

Any forumites able to shed more light? How are changes to the train timetable decided? How do commuters feed in to / influence the decision making process to shape the development of our local services?

The work at LBG is for the thameslink project, as we know services via herne hill have won that battle to continue through the 'core' rather than terminate at blackfriars

Does that mean Denmark Hill trains will not run beyond Blackfriars?

Hope not - we were told both would run - but the pessimists think

the Sevenoaks line will be cut :(


Herne Hill line trains were originally not 12 cars.

The Forest Hill Society campaigned for the return of the Charing Cross service on the FH line back in 2009 when it was axed and it appears very unlikely that any Southern service will return to that section of track due to Southeastern requiring all of the slots after HS1 was launched from St Pancras.


However, once the work at London Bridge is completed, the interchange will be a lot easier thanks to the track and platform separation between Thameslink and Southeastern services.

    • I can't answer your question. But on them generally: it's changed hands in the last year or so, I think. I paid £35 for interior and exterior and they did a crap job. I'll go to the one on Herne Hill (or just do it myself if health allows) next time.
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays! 
    • Was that the one where you put a coin in and it squirted water at you? what was the name of the one in hanway street - whatever you ordered it came on a segmented tray like you get in prison (I imagine). Prices were a steal.
