I sent a message via that link and got a call back today. Straight away my call failed, so I rang them back on my landline. Very frustrating conversation followed - according to Vodaphone there is no problem, and I can buy a booster for a bargain 50% off, just ?50 (!). Explained that I pay a monthly fee for them to provide me with a mobile network, and I shouldn't have to fork out any more, and miraculously it is now free.

However, he still absolutely denied that there is a problem. I have been told to keep a record of failed calls, no service etc. for the next 24 hours and ring them back. Apparently if others do the same it will strengthen the case for them to take it seriously, so please, anyone suffering the same shoddy service, keep a note and ring them.

I've been with Vodaphone for nearly 13 years, but since December last year the service has been constantly patchy. My contract is up for renewal and I think I'll go elsewhere. Recommendations?

Just to update, I phoned again this evening with my 24 hour log of service (none/limited when at home or nearby, fine when outside of my immediate area). They have now admitted that there is a problem with the mast, affecting both standard signal and 3G in the area. No indication of when this will be rectified, but apparently I'll receive a credit on my account (I doubt this will happen without me pushing for it).

In the meantime I have a phone I can't use for anything useful. Very frustrating.

We've just moved in to SE22... down the bottom end of LL and get ZERO reception in the house... have to go out the front for any kind of weak signal.

Vodafone declined our request to be sent a signal booster... suggested we buy one online for ?100?! No thanks!

They are now crediting our accounts circa ?35/month until they fix the signal tower (they have admitted one of their towers is faulty) so complain away to try and at least cover some of your monthly fee!

Lets just hope they get it up and running as I'd rather have signal than a reduced bill! :(

Has something happened to Vodafone reception locally in the past couple of weeks?

I've never had a problem but have come back from holiday to find that I have zero reception even on my Blackberry (which works just about anywhere in the country). I'm halfway along Lordship Lane.

    • Thanks CPR Dave for the link to Southwark's leaf cleaning schedule. Good to see that.   I think that what may have happened was the leaves weren't cleared during the scheduled week for Whateley Road, which was w/c 17 November.  Then they were cleared a couple of weeks ago instead. We have been here through all of autumn,  and there has been a steady build-up of leaves on this stretch since October.  At one point there was a deep layer to wade through. The photos I posted were from 17 December, and as you can see,  the leaves had been trampled and compressed into the ground. It looked a lot worse at times.   Lots of school kids from the primary school walk up and down this pavement.   In case this happens next year,  I have found a contact page about streets https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/contact-us-about-transport-and-roads - so I could ask them what their plans are.
    • Amrutha is excellent, unless you are died in the wool meat and two veg most will find the food to their taste and it certainly isn't a place that expects you to be a sandal wearing vegan. Recommend Matoon too, there are many great places in SE23, SE4 and SE26 if you get chance to get on a bus. Don't have takeaways very often and would only do this when they employ their own delivery people due to all the issues with the slave labour that is Deliveroo and the like (and numerous other issues).  Yes it is a different thread but I can't stop myself reminding people.
    • Hopefully we were just unlucky and it was a one off glitch.
    • Just reviving this thread rather than starting a new one, as there must be an obvious answer to my question that I haven't spotted so this might be resolved quickly! I've been using Tessa Jowell recently and If the cameras in the car park pick up your number plate when you arrive and leave why do you have to put your registration in anyway - surely they have all the info they need on film to contact you if you overstay?
