I am browsing and the figures really do seem to be something from the 70s. This graph must be miles out, and yet claims 05/6. They dont even measure people with a household income of ?52k. I mean 21yr old graduates in the City make 45k these days...

North and Mid Devon and Cornwall respectively account for the bottom three poorest rural council areas in England and Wales. Yet as Cassius quite rightly points out, these apparantly poor people live longer than anyone else statistically across the whole country. Why? Because not all working class people eat battered sausages every night of the week, some of them enjoy home cooked meals with some of the freshest and yet cheapest ingredients from their source in these rural areas. Urbanite middle class people honestly believe that they are better off because of their money and status, but this is in general a long way from the truth.

Given that quotes "weekly household income" I'm guessing it's net of tax and NI... 52,000 net probably equates to about 70k gross.

frightfully bourgeois, ditzy, chaotic, and a little stressful but the food quality tends to be better here than anywhere else. The Kurdish Cafe on Bellenden road would be the best place around in terms of price and service but unfortunately they don't serve proper coffee and their sausages are pink sawdust.

Blue mountain OK

End of message......(really this time..)

Woof

Went to the Blue Mountain Cafe for lunch yesterday and found myself wondering whether the staff had read this thread. They couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. It was rammed, so clearly a popular choice. And only a few prams. Yum food, not too expensive. I am loving seeing how the other half live now not at work.

    • There was quite an old clip on BBC4 recently where they were introducing yoghurt to the British public. They called it a 'Balkan Dairy Preparation', which sounded to me more like something you'd ask to speak to the male member of staff about in the chemist in those days.
    • I haven't had any problems, except when the online  appointment system is full, but I have found if something is urgent they can fit you in if you phone. I think they probably keep a few spaces free for urgent last minute appointments, but I'm just guessing  I've found it quite convenient being able to email questions which previously I would have had to ask at an actual appointment, and I've always had a speedy reply. You can send photos as well. I don't know about forms and letters. That sounds bad. Have the admin staff changed recently?
    • Nearly a quarter of the way through the season. Week 9 points...   Week 9 table...
    • The yoghurt was very sharp (not sure of right word) and  if memory serves quite runny. Nothing like the stuff sold now. There was pink as well. Strawberry? That must have had sugar in? Too new fangled for us, but my Auntie Grace down the road used to get it 😂 Well, you had to keep up to date. Sorry, couldn't resist.
