My trip was sadly interrupted by a killer virus that wiped me out for the trip - fly to belgade, sleeper train to Podgirica, into Skhodra Albania, ferry from Bar to bari on the day of the game, vomiting, crying and a 1AM coach to Ancona to get the next mornings ryanscare flight back to Blighty.

we lost the coach at a desterted service station near to lecce and then walked for 4 hours through to the train station to get the train that got us to Ancona with minutes to spare.

Every single step was agony

I cant remember much of the game as I was lying down on the crumbling terraces

I have to admit that my worst Italian experiences as detailed above were Champions league games v Inter & Juve - unpleasant, if only for the final result- hence my tainted viewpoint

now last months game in Prag was another matter...

I didn't expect you to want me to spell out that Scotland have never got past Round 1 (assuming they'd entered or not withdrawn) of the EC or WC.

Having said that, I'm not feeling particularly big in my pants about Italy's position in their group.

maybe, but we won the Kirin cup the other year.

now thats not something the likes of Pele or maradona can boast about

Wouldn't you just know it, Germany win via a free kick, scored by my favourite German player Mr.Gonad, aka Bollock. They were so average last night it was painful. I really hope they don't progress any further because the quality and standard of their play is woeful.

I think Italy and Holland will both come through from that group.

France = England if they'd qualified. Meaning the prevailing assumption that by just scraping through a poor group, they'll be fine once they get to the real thing, because they have so many world class players.

    • What is your beef with me ? Why are you asking rhetorical questions?  fighting me but excusing reform? have a look in the mirror  you’ve lost your way
    • I don't need you to tell me to 'fight against' racism.  I know what it looks it like, thank you.  And China would be our enemy whether we were in Europe or not (and has been for a long time), so that's immaterial.  I remember covering an EDL march 12 years ago, when there was a Cons-Lib Dem coalition, so the idea that this is a new problem is rubbish. BUT Reform is doing an excellent job of galvanising a minority in reaction to smug liberals like you, who blame the electorate's collective ignorance for all the country's demons.  What right have you for a moral mandate?
    • Both Labour and Conservatives can remove the threat of a Reform government by making making two major policy promises. And these are .......... (1) categorically state that they will take Britain out of the ECHR and (2) Undertake to remove any new small boat arrivals to Rwanda or wherever else. Reform is basically a single issue party and adopting (1) & (2) would send Reform into obscurity. The country has had enough of our judiciary making a gold-plated interpretation of the ECHR statutes.
    • You fight against by not pretending. By calling it what it is. Instead of slyly pretending they are not racist “actually”  recognise what the country is facing and say “no” why do you even need to ask the question?
