StraferJack
I don't get the endless hipster hateThe look cliched, sure. But as tribes go they are pretty benign, almost cute Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34657-only-a-matter-of-time-before-these-start-popping-up-locally/#findComment-665024 Share on other sites

Jeremy
SJ, it's illogical but I get it. When I see these guys with their silly skin-tight trousers, Morrissey hair, sunglasses stolen from an eight year old girl, and of course a bloody beard. I just get really angry. StraferJack
Like actually angry? Or mildly vexed?I think it's a groupthink thing - endless papers and forums and mates banging on about fekkin hipsters. And then it just becomes a thingI don't think it speaks well of anyone Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34657-only-a-matter-of-time-before-these-start-popping-up-locally/#findComment-665041 Share on other sites
????
I'm with mr Streafer (it does happen), I'm even quite fond of them. I like a hipster spot....also, is it me or is the scupltured flat hairstyle with shaved sides RE Beckham also moving a bit from Chav to Hipster? I've seen a couple of these hairstyle recently with owners in hipster rather than Essex/Bromley clobber Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34657-only-a-matter-of-time-before-these-start-popping-up-locally/#findComment-665046 Share on other sites

Just the copycat, formulaic nature of it all. And this particular tribe seem to believe they're particularly cool (at least that's how it plays out in my mind). And of course they mainly look like complete dorks. Saffron
Obviously I want to catch one so I can eat it, austerity n all that. I figured they're a lean source of cheap protein and fibre. Enough of them about not to miss a few. ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34657-only-a-matter-of-time-before-these-start-popping-up-locally/#findComment-665075 Share on other sites

woodrot
why hate hipsters ? cos it saves timeevery era has its feckless narcisstic blip, usually with a hard core of secure wealth behind them -we had the hippies, we had the new wavers, the new romantics blah blah.Ispose the vile hippies left a legacy of sorts if I have to be honest, but what do these bastard sons of urb grunge and squat chic give us ? what do they offer to the wider world?I cant think of anything . Even the Goths will leave a legacy - these bearded selfish cockroaches will just leave piss stains on the side of your house as they stumble back from bar storyIf anyone can actually show me that this movement has any depth or group consciousness I will happily delete my comment bro'. ????
They kind of look like the Timebandits combined with Ewoks and that,s quite funny...I don,t think they stand for anything not like the despicable, greedy, hypocritical now run the world hippies Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34657-only-a-matter-of-time-before-these-start-popping-up-locally/#findComment-665088 Share on other sites
Mick Mac
I haven't really been aware of any of this. Are the short sleeve bottomed to the collar patterned shirts part of this fad? Seeing a lot of that around but I guess that may be just "fashion". Although that's something no 40 something should try, even you SJ. Michael Palaeologus
Hate Hipsters? They look a little dopey but that isn't sufficient to generate hate. They wont come to ED though, they have a honey pot in Peckham and will not stray far from that. HonaloochieB
Are hipsters a 'movement' anyway? I almost half get the idea, but aren't they mainly smallish pockets of well 'hipsters' in various urban settings supposedly informing others/creating what they would baulk at calling 'trends' and just iPading it up wherever there's free WiFI, for all we know working for an employment agency, placing domestic staff? But anyway, nice to have a 'whatever it is they are' based on hip-hugging trousers, important that and worked well enough for The RutlesAnyway, after time and waistline expansion, all our trousers and perhaps oursouls become 'hipsters'.
