maritap
I'm a jack Daniels drinker and I can't believe spirited wines on Lordship Lane. Are charging ?30 and change for a bottle and all the other establishments are charging between ?22 & 23 ..... Where do they get off charging just over ?30 for a bottle of Jack Daniels... Marmora Man
if it's cheaper elsewhere - buy elsewhere, don't whinge. The retailer will notice drop off in trade and change behaviour Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34843-how-much-for-jack-daniels/#findComment-666581 Share on other sites
Mick Mac
They probably don't sell much. The cheaper prices are presumably supermarket prices so go there if price is king. But Boss Man wines is best for quality wine at good prices. maritap
Not whingeing Marmora man just merely saying I was shocked at the difference in prices. david_carnell
It's a French wine shop. They probably are charging that much to get you back for drinking such horrid new world muck.Have an armagnac. Lowlander
?30 would buy you a cracking bottle of single malt (or if you want, an American whiskey like Rittenhouse). Leave the JD to the teenagers. Green & Blue (RIP) were the only place I ever found a half decent one. stephen509
I noticed this a while back. They will get those drinkers that want to buy a bottle after the pub to carrry on the party & can't drive to the supermarket. Otta
Excellent, a bit of drink snobbery.I like Jack Daniels, as well as other bourbons. Would rather a nice bourbon than a lot of "quality" whiskeys that I've tried over the years. HonaloochieB
And it wouldn't be a good look for Keith Richards or even a minor Rolling Stone or as it might be Lemmy to be swagger-staggering about the shop with a bottle of Boulard or somesuch.Think about it. Jessie
I spent a whole evening buying Lemmy Jack Daniels one night, and Marlboro Reds. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34843-how-much-for-jack-daniels/#findComment-666765 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
Jeez! I remember when the only place you could get it in London was the very first Oddbins that opened up on Farringdon Road. They didn't sell it in pubs, you couldn't get it anywhere else. It was around ?2.50 a bottle then (1974). About a pound more than an ordinary bourbon or whisky or whiskey. I thought that was expensive but I loved it and still do. I think I did a hell of a lot to advertise its dark smokey pleasures over here. So you damned well thank me, Keith Richards and Lemmy that we made it so damned popular because we were guzzling it before you were a twinkle in yer dad's eye. So there! Feckers!Next time go somewhere else to buy it. Thirty quid is ridiculous. Otta
Although I probably started drinking it because Slash was never seen without a bottle. But I do like it a lot. Also took up Marlboro Reds as a teen because Ozzy smoked them. Otta
I did have one 20 years ago. It was retired after I fractured my skull and it was soaked in claret. Jah Lush
Indeed. Mr B. I was given one. Wore it once and felt like a twat. I still have it but it will remain at the bottom of the draw unless you or the OP want it of course. HonaloochieB
JL and Otta it of course makes perfectly acceptable night attire, when of course one is not entertaining a guest. And of course such garments have a 'catchment area' - the newsagent for whatever combination of 'Sundays' one might have, the beer, takeaway run etc. I have some clothing (I use the word loosely and some just barely covers my ample frame) that I have a 50 yard limit on.It's making sure everyone's OK.
