presumably you want talk about it, rather than compile a list of names mightyroar?

Series 2 is the bovril series. It was such a shift away from series one, some people never got it. It took me longer. But it might be one of the best on reflection.

The Greek scared me

Frank was a great character

McNulty annoyed the hell out of Rawls was genius

Ziggy was a prick, but a misunderstood one I think. Greek wasn't scary, his number 1 is!

I thought it was a great series, looking at a different group in society, but keeping up with the "street".

Series 3 is fab, and I know a couple of people who have said they'd stop at the end of 3 because they felt they had enough closure. I'm very glad I watched series 4, as it is my favourite, and I can't wait to wrap it all up with series 5!!!

What I find really bizarre about season 2 is that when it aired on BET (Black Entertainment Television), the network felt it necessary to edit out most of the waterside / dockers / Valchek / white people storylines, apparently because their core audience (black viewers) would not be interested in it enough to watch. How patronising to their viewers is that?

I love it, of course. ziggy a fool but he had his moments. quite gloriously tragic at the end. also liked his cock on screen moment early on in the series.

i think the greek looks like he's wearing a disguise of some sort. it's a combination or his nose and moustache.

i kept thinking it would go all sci fi or something and he'd have a face off moment and underneath it would be stringer bell being even more evil.

also, the greek's sidekick, man who acts with his hat and his fags, kind of looks like he's about to break into modern dance....like in the kids from fame when suddenly someone does a pirouette aross the street. whenever he sits on a park bench- which is quite often, i imagine he's going to leap up and use it as some sort of dance accessory (the bench) and kind of flip his fat cap down his arm in dancer stylee.

Loved it when Mcnulty put on his fake (ho ho) british accent to go to the brothel. in stitches. Also loved his crap sailing knots.

O and bunk being so drunk in the morning he was dry retching into the bin. Fab

Also loved the episode when both the police had to tell their partners they were back on the job and it was kind of like they were having dinner as a foursome, but actually they were just both in trouble with their ladeez.

cant wait for the next season, should be on it's way to me as I speak.

Never watched any Deadwood, but series 1 is on it's way via Lovefilm, so will probably plough through all of that before Wire 5 arrives.

Going back to Horsebox's comment, how did what they did show make any sense, it's all tied in! It's as if they think their target audience only want to see black people popping caps in each other's asses! :-S I disservice to their own audience methinks.

how many times have you guys all watched it? I love the Wire. I love it love it love it (although I'm not sure how much more I can take after series 4: I'm emotionally battered). but I don't think I can quote scenes in this way. is this like the way boys know the entire script to Withnail and I and the producers of rare 60s b-sides and, you know, the offside rule?

    • Labour have changed a number of things overnight.   1. VAT on school fees - this has resulted in 25,000 moving until state education. 2. Increasing NICs adding billions to the cost of going to work. 3. Introducing the Employment Rights Bill causing employers to stop hiring. This and item 2 have added 100,000 people to the unemployment scrapheap. These are also causing businesses to relocate further harming the economy. 4. Scrapping all the small boats deterrents meaning 60,000 illegal migrants have arrived in small boats since they were elected. 5. Dishing out huge public sector payroses with no conditions so we have a massively increased payroll and doctors etc arestill going out on strike. 6.changed IHT and non domicile tax rules causing 16,500 millionaires to leave the UK and stop paying any tax here at all forever. 7. Alongside 6, leaving the budget up until an historically late period after the last budget has caused a house price crash, killing the market and decimating government stamp duty receipts. 8. Their profligate borrowing (£100bn extra in just one year) to fund all their lavish promises means the government can now only borrow at the highest ever yields on records. They are more beholden to the bond markets than Liz Truss was. 9. The rate of inflation has doubled under this government. It was a healthy 2% when they came in. For most of the last year, as a result of all of the above it is now nearly 4%.   These are all decisions the Labour government took that have immediate cause and effect.  Its no good harking back to 15 years ago. The current administration was gifted the fastest growing economy in the G7 and within 15 months they have destroyed it.    And things are only going to get worse this winter.

    • A lot to agree with here - don’t get me started on Irish people complaining about immigration! - but that final paragraph is once again a cop out  there’s a lot of extreme right wing money stirring up the division that people are feeling - but there is zero excuse for handing power to these people. We live in a democracy and if we have enough people willing to give it up then judging those people foolish enough to do so is not only something that will happen, it is something that the rest of us should be morally compelled to do  if someone wouldn’t “normally” vote for a racist party yet somehow will do so because they hear someone like me saying that would be bad, then you better believe I’m judging them
