DeptfordDiva
Last night, Monday 9th, at around 8.30 I was stationary at the traffic lights on East Dulwich Grove/Peckham Rye when a scumbag on a cycle came alongside my passenger door. He said you just hit me, i knew i hadnt but before i could lock my door, he opened it and grabbed my coat from the front seat. We both spotted my bag (which was under the coat) at the same time, and both grabbed for it - he won ! He cycled off through the alley between the flats. Luckily there was nothing of value in the bag - apart from my reading glasses - i'm blind without them.I just wanted to warn everyone to be careful at traffic lights and to make sure you lock your doors. Twirly
Sorry to hear that, but hope you're OK. I always try to remember to lock my door - hopefully you've reminded us all to do it, always. So sad that we have to though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/36271-robbed-at-traffic-lights-in-ed/#findComment-677937 Share on other sites
Domme_Jay
Poor you, awful experience.Yes lock car doors and put "desirable" items in boot, an empty cardboard could be considered desirable since it is full of potentialHope you are okJ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/36271-robbed-at-traffic-lights-in-ed/#findComment-677962 Share on other sites

shaunag
My mum was robbed at traffic lights-they smashed her window and took her bag off the passenger seat before he knew what was happening. I don't put my bag on passenger seat now. How cheeky to have opened your door. Glad they got nothing of value to them and hope you're ok. ellieaness
Sorry to hear this - From a prevention point of view, I'm learning to drive and my instructor is fastidious about the central locking and making sure our bags are in the back. Years of driving around South East London. RicB
Sorry to hear about your terrible experience, I never lock my door but my wife always tells me to, you always think nothing will happen, but its a unfortunate reminder we all need to be more careful. Hope you're ok and glad that at least they didn't make off with any valuables. DeptfordDiva
Thanks everyone, yes i'm fine but was very upset at the time - i think i felt quite stupid! I did call the police and they were very good and drove me round to see if we could spot him, but no luck. He was white, probably 30 - 40 wearing dark clothes and it was a dark bike. He had short balding hair and he looked rough - probably a skag head lol. I'll know him if i see him again - so he better watch out. sela
It looks it happens quite regularly recently. Hopefully the police will put their hand eventually on this/those who do it.
