I was sorry to see the other day some sort of "Development" sign above Plant Nation, the little garden centre on Upland Road. I assume it will be replaced by houses. I have always liked it as a cheerful and convenient local business, and if it's closing, it'll be a longer trek to pick up something for the garden.

One of the features I've always liked about East Dulwich is the little businesses and garages to be found in some of the back streets. Slowly one by one they are giving up the ghost. Perhaps inevitable, but for us old-timers a little sad too.

Ok, fair enough numbers, I'm out-number-ed (sorry sorry).

How would you all define a "fine establishment", as in "One of Dulwich's finest establishment", and what would you say were the other "fine establishments" in Dulwich?

I thought it was a quite nice little place selling plants, with friendly people and occasionally some quite nice plants. It had very little space so the selection was extremely small, and the prices weren't that cheap. Sometimes the plants on sale were let's say tired, and other times they weren't kept sufficiently watered.

No idea about their "excellent gardening knowledge", as I never had cause to ask their advice, but it would be a bit surprising if they didn't have good knowledge given that they were running a plant centre, albeit a very small one!

Just to let you all know what's happening:

Ray has retired to the country taking Lloyd with him.

Keith hopes to be continuing with christmas trees and can also supply logs and kindling.

Any questions please feel free to pm or ring Keith on 07963730612

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
