Is it just me or has The Victoria Inn...

...turned back into The Wishing Well??

Tables are covered with used glassware, ash (on all outside tables) foods spillages (on tables and the weird astro turf floor outside - which is the equivalent to having carpet in your bathroom)...and I daren't even mention the state of the Ladies toilet which is beyond disgusting.

In fact it's probably unfair to say that they are turning back into The Wishing Well as this had cleaner facilities, friendlier staff and far less expensive drinks.

Where is everyone drinking now...because it certainly isn't The Victoria Inn. Please tell me where to find you all...

Who needs a nice friendly local boozer with friendly bar staff when you can have a pretentious and expensive gentrified "bar and dining" venue? :)

I've only ever experienced really lovely, friendly and outstandingly helpful bar staff at the Victoria Inn.

Mind you, the Wishing Well is before my time so what do I know*

It's terrible now, fallen way behind most of the other Peckham Rye drinking spots. The food is awful, and the service is haphazard (although generally pretty friendly). It needs some attention from the management to bring it back up to scratch.

I remember they ran out of beer at The Drum once. Nobody knew what to do so the owner went to Budgens and got two luke warm palettes of Carling in.

Yeah, Capital Pubs i think. Also own the Rye and the Florence.

I think the only change I've noticed - and the two are probably related - is that the Victoria has recently started to be really busy all the time...
