Parking ticket on Hansler

Hi,

I just got a penalty charge notice my car for being still on Hasler road for under 4 min. The picture shows a car infront of me blocking the road and it looks like i am in the car. I never get out on that road so its nuts. Anyone else had anything like this

Hansler Road isn't controlled, generally, but there are sections outside the Carpet shop that have single yellow lines.

Hansler isn't controlled and the single yellows by the carpet shop aren't signed so are unenforceable. Appeal. If it's filmed from the camera car, ask for the whole film, which will show you not getting out of the car.

Does not getting out of the car really qualify you to park wherever you want ? Could be obvious advantages there that I never knew about, espcially when in the West End.

I'd say no. But it sounds like the OP was simply stuck behind another vehicle for a couple of minutes, not parked at all. But it's a little ambiguous...

Got the answer to the appeal.

The charge stands, have to pay 60 for being still on the road for under 4 min while there was a vehicle infront of me!

Southwark council your a classy act!

Take it to parking appeals tribunal, they almost certainly clear you.

You could also take it to the press and embarrass the council for being so stupid.

The appeal procedure is in three parts

1 by phone or online - at this point they don't listen - response is almost always the computer/ photo evidence shows you have committed an offence

2 by letter setting our your case in detail - include your own photos , quote name and addresses of any witnesses you have , etc

3 appear befor an independent adjudicator - often council don't turn up because they know case is weak

You MUST appeal or they will continue with this bad practice. You simply cannot get a ticket for sitting in traffic, which is what you were doing. The appeal should be because 'The offence did not take place'.

I love it when people get parking fines, just pay up and stop moaning. Our law and order system is crumbling, the value of money is crumbling, everyone wants to argue with the police, no one wants to pay fines, traffic wardens are being assaulted left right and centre. No wonder there's so few police and traffic wardens on the street with so little powers.
