Who's being a snob? I didn't say anything bad about spam. I was expressing surprise that it was popular in Hawaii. Eaten with everything, any way you like. Curried, sushi, etc.

RTFT in future.

I loved spam fritters at school too.

Crispy outside and juicy inside.

Don't remember much about the puddings apart from something we called snot pudding which was leftover cold semolina smeared on top of leftover cold pastry.

The kids who had to stay on Friday afternoon for music lessons were "lucky" enough to get that for lunch. Yum. Maybe Jamie Oliver could resurrect it for his money saving programme.

I HATED spam fritters at school. Still can't stand that horrid salty rubbery nastiness (I've not actually eaten spam in years, but that's how I remember it).

What with the minging spam fritters followed by disgusting rice pudding, I'd often sit there all lunch time refusing to eat a bite. I begged my mum to give me sandwiches instead. I'm really not a picky eater, but there's a line I won't cross.

    • They are. We are back to the same construction racket 8am-8pm every day for the whole of this week. The wall is one of the last things to come down, probably on Saturday. Then we can see how much of a mess they've made, especially the quantity of non-biodegradeable litter trampled into the earth. GALA 2025 - Production Schedule.pdf

    • It is intimidating looking through the book sections now.  I sometimes wonder if they're stocking bookshops' remainders. OTOH, when I put  some books out in a cardboard box for taking, it was  encouraging to see that a fair proportion of those taken were aged hardbacks.
