Vik - that is so funny about the ripped sunblest bread & paste sandwiches but you must have been posh to use proper anchor butter!! :)

I just bought some corned beef from Iceland. Corned beef hash, making a comeback. Retro, innit.

YES! I did. White sugar on white buttered bread.


My mum was not the greatest cook. And didn't have much idea of nutrition either.

    • Ah, thanks,  it all comes flooding back. I've actually been to the Hastings shop, I'd forgotten all about it, along with her name! Didn't she (in between?)  take over what  was then The Magnolia, previously The Magdala, now The Lordship, with her then partner? Or is that some figment of my imagination?  In fact, didn't they transform it from The Magdala (much missed) to The Magnolia? With flowery wallpaper covering the front of the bar? Which reminds me of the pub's brief period after The Magnolia  as the ill-conceived and ill-fated The Patch.
    • Looking for crate/toys/play pen etc. Ideally will buy in a bundle. Can collect!
    • A belated recommendation for Iain and Paul od Oddbods who came to help me with various jobs before Christmas.  Painting ceiling, renewing silicone around bath, repairing a window sill which was almost beyond repair and hanging a large mirror.   Very happy with their work and they are friendly and very reliable and excellent at communicating.  No hesitation in recommending them.
