We are rat-free inside but obviously there are many outside. Nothing new, I know, but suddenly our cats are bringing a dead, smallish one inside every day. We can only assume there is at least one nest outside. It's fairly disgusting. Will this end as the rats get older, take on their student debt, buy Ikea starter packs and set off into the world, or is there any reason/benefit to getting K&O (to pre-empt the inevitable recommendation) to look for it in our garden?

On the other hand, a while back when we had a rat problem the council rat man aka 'pest control' said that he (not being a particular cat lover) had had to get a cat to deter rats in his garden after his local neighborhood became over-run.

May be worth sticking some rat poison in areas that pets cannot access but rats can?

More risk of infection from a human bite than a cat/dog bite I remember being told.

I snuggle up to my cats big time and allow them to snuggle up to me. One of life's great pleasures!

At least cats - unlike dogs - have the good sense not to eat their own shite.

    • Blame me then as I will be voting for the Reform Party at the next general election after being a Conservative voter for many years.  Two tier Keir has just shot himself in the foot with his announcement about national insurance exemptions for Indian workers coming to the UK whilst he imposes the exact opposite on UK businesses.
    • I’m trying to organise a party for my teenage son and really don’t want to have to trek all the way to Goals in Beckenham. Does anyone know of any football pitches (Astro or concert) that you can hire on a Saturday?  thanks for your help.
    • Wouldn't vote for farage and his lot, so don't blame me.
    • Can't blame it just on Jazzer.  More than just one person to blame.  I'd start off with the Liv Dems going into coalition with the Tories.  But very much a six degrees of separation thing so we all must take a share of the blame 😔
