Has anyone used Art of Glass for an extension or conservatory?

We had Art of Glass round to quote for a small 6 foot extension to our flat and were really impressed by them. Has anyone used them in the past? We're a little nervous as it's so much money (rightly so, it's structural work!).

Thank you!

Hi, I didn't use them in the end. I was contacted by two people from other forums who said that they had had a terrible experience with them. They had been left with half done extensions or massive structural issues with their properties and that the company had just closed down and reopened and never been accountable. I got a bit scared off. You can indeed see reviews for the company and the main lady Ganna online if you search so maybe contact them too? The company did quote ?19,000 for a 10 x 6 kitchen extension with glazed roof and underfloor heating and I did really like the process of designing with them. They were also more than happy to let me look at other extensions they had done so maybe look into it yourself? I didn't look into it any more and never had an extension done in the end. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

(I was however highly recommended David O'Brien by several people and he seemed really lovely and was more than happy to show me around finished and ongoing building projects. He is also reassuringly quite booked up. He's on 07960 938621 and if you search you can find recommendations on Virtual Norwood forum too)

Hi Tarah,

Found your message on this Forum and decided that will explain our part of the story. Our company was targeted by awful woman with a lot of classic cars. She asked us to build for her orangery instead of bad conservatory she had. When I was signing the contract she said- we sue every builder walking to this door and always won.the bell should of ring for me. But I was absolutely sure that we do our very best so it has nothing to do with us. As you may remember, we take only small deposit, order all frames and take payment after it been delivered. She was behaving funny from the start and when her construction ?20k worth was delivered refused to pay, making stupid case of non existing damage.( we removed her old construction as per contract!)After consulting our lawyer, we understood that as goods where behind her gates it will takes us very long and expensive to get court order for removal and walked away... However, few bits were missing for her to put free orangery by someone else up and she was chasing how to get it. Writing Rubbish on different sites etc. Finally, we had to report her to the police and asked sites were we found damaging information and asked for it to be Removed. There are rogue builders but there are rogue customers too! You can call me for more details on 07894556072 . Thanks

Ganna Peatfield

    • Surprise, surprise. It didn't take them long, did it. This will be something of a test as to how much the council really care about parks and the environment. A footfall of 60,000. Are they mad? There is no way this park is designed for or can sustain that sort of use. Just had a look at the schedule. If allowed to go ahead, this will involve a large slice of the park (not the common) sectioned off and out of use for three weeks of May and the first week of June. Here's an idea, why not trial the festival in one of the other Southwark Parks, so the 'goodness' can be shared around the borough?
    • There was another unprovoked attack on Monday this week on a young woman nearby (Anstey Road) at 6.45pm. Don't have any other details, it was posted on a Facebook group by her flatmate. Pretty worrying  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EGfDrCAST/
    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.
