well, you could argue that both are correct but really 'an' would be a very archaic form as nowadays we pronounce 'horrific' with the 'h' pronounced. So, yes, either a bit pompous/old-fashioned or you are pronouncing it 'orrific.

So, I think in modern usage 'an horrific' is not really correct.

(Is Jah Irish?) Does this have anything 'a' or 'an' before an AITCH (ha ha..)to do with French because you would probably say 'a Hotel' because in French the H is silent.

In English sometimes the 'h' is silent too (an hour for example). It's not to do with spelling, rather with the pronunciation of the word that comes after the article.
