theguy@themarkets
Hi Great to have you in East Dulwich.. I am local myself (upland road)I run a meat/fish business- buy fresh produce daily from Smithfield and Billingsgateplus a few specialist farmers (fosse meadow farm for chicken etc)I am sure you have your regular suppliers but I would be delighted to be given theopportunity to supply you some produce.Basically I would buy from market and mark up 20%. I would easily be more competitive thanother suppliers as my overheads or so small. I have very good reviews on the forum and understand food !As I go to market daily I am very flexible and can take last minute orders etc. Iam exceptionally busy over Christmas/new year but would be delighted to buy anything for you.ThankyouGuy Coleman07906737624 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/page/16/#findComment-705730 Share on other sites

NewWave
Our Sunday lunch was very fairly priced-same as I'd expect in any decent gastropub/resturant.However I would agree ?16 for a full english breakfast seems a little exorbitant.I think about ?10 would be nearer the mark. Can't speak for the food but as a pub? no. not really. seriously. nope. Can't speak for the food but as a pub?> no. not really. seriously. nope.xxxxxxThe Mag (in its Magnolia incarnation) always felt a bit "cold" too. Can't remember much about the Magdala apart from the yellow! It's a pity if they haven't improved the vibe, after all the time it took to finally open The Patch. Not been down there and don't intend to, even though it's one of my nearest pubs. I can't understand how it can be touted as a "community" pub with brunch at ?16, even if it comes with bread with flakes of gold on or whatever. Very mixed messages have been given out, in my opinion. If you're going to run a gastro pub competing with the likes of Franklins and the Palmerston, then just say so from the outset. All the other stuff - vertical horticulture on the roof, schoolkids growing your veg etc - is all very laudable but somehow doesn't fit.Not in my world view, anyway, which I fully admit may be bitter and twisted due to currently living on a pension in an increasingly affluent neighbourhood :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/page/16/#findComment-707713 Share on other sites
Otta
The Magnolia was very cold. The yellow Mag felt lively, and I actually liked it. The Mag before that was not the open space it is now, and was completely different. It definitely wouldn't fit in today's ED. Otta
I guess the big question RE The Patch is how many people are in there?I can barely afford to go to the pub these days, but I accept that these places aren't really for the likes of me. If people are going in and paying the prices, then it's working. Louisa
I agree with you guys. And also, I miss being able to get a nice strong Kentish/Sussex real ale in any pubs around here. It all seems to be about fancy continental lagers these days or am I missing the point? Landlords/pub companies, stop trying to appease Clapham blow-ins and feed me my brown ale! Louisa. Pickle
I'm going next week for a birthday meal and drinks, will report back, but hope it's nice!I loved the original Mag, in it's pre-posh state. It was our closest pub when we first moved to the area and I spent many a happily drunken night there. The Magnolia was lacking atmosphere, I never quite worked out what was wrong with it, but it just don't seem to work. Too far away from the "main" bars/restaurants? El Pibe
"It all seems to be about fancy continental lagers these days"Really? I think you may be thinking of the nineties. Although Peroni on draught does seem de rigeur these days.Lager sales plummeting, ale sales rocketing generally. The Dog had Harvey's on tap over christmas. And is it me or has the service improved, admittedly from a very very very low starting point. ????
Louisa - below say 40s, you'll see far more brown beer drunk among posher types than you will among working class lads/ladies.The revival of bitter and ale in pubs and me starting drinking them again - largely led by the gentrified pubs - has just reinforced how sh1te draught lagers are to me.
