Exactly right, which is how my dad knew him. He was always really good to me, and he always had some filthy jokes to share. He moved with his new wife to Norfolk (I think) around the turn of the century, and unfortunately died a couple of years ago (or maybe more). Very young to go, but he used to drink gallons of vodka, and I think he'd had 3 heart attacks before 30.

Really lovely bloke.

turn of the century - that's the first time I have seen that term referring to 2000... makes me feel old for some reason.

Now I don't want to be pernickety and it may be because it was their 25p/wing night (every Tuesday) but visited the Flying Pig again tonight - 8pm and it was standing room only.

Titch, I ate there last night and the menu is almost identical to the NYE menu on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/dulwichpatch

Food wise it was one of the best meals I can say I've ever had locally (?70 for two for two courses, bread, water plus four large drinks). I actually preferred it to ToastED in terms of more conventional portions. Also spotted... another regular forumite in there with one of the best "I didnt realise it doesn't comes with chips" ever. :-)

Nice atmosphere and for a Tuesday in early Jan I counted about 30 covers with 12 or so at the bar. I looked out for Foxy peering through the windows but didn't see him.

Maxxi - Wing night? I'm in!

Hello Mr. Ben,

I think that your coverage on last night's event at The Patch was very accurate. I was there last night as well and I would agree with your comments on the food and so forth. However, I must agree with the other forumite that you spotted and the inability to order side orders.

I also noticed that the tables are well spaced apart, so I must congratulate you on your sharp ears with regard to picking up the other forumite's comment. :)

    • That is correct, the collection and delivery operations are separate - the delivery operations work from Delivery Office (DOs) - such as Peckham - whereas collection goes directly to Sorting Offices. What is true however is that there are more daily collections from Post Boxes associated with Main and sub Post Offices - so if you need something to go urgently using one of these will get your post to a sorting Office quicker. [A confusion can arise because the final sort of post into 'walks' is done at the DOs - but post collected from boxes does not go to DOs directly].
    • I also thought the collection vans did not also deliver at the same time, or at least up town they operate very separately. Does anyone else know more?
    • We were trying to contact Steve on 07990904375, following this post and yet there wasn't any reply from this number. Is it a correct number to contact Steve for decoration work?
