Sun20July08 What happened in Peckham today?

As well as the ILovePeckham festival, this afternoon as we were walking home from it about 4pm we saw loads of police cars heading for Rye Lane and a police helicopter circling it. Anyone know what happened?

Oh, and theres was me thinking you were talking about how I fell asleep on the 37 bus after a night out, and ended up in Peckham Morrison's car park.

Phew, that was close - I was worried word had got out! :-$

Don't know anything at the moment, but, will ask the local "yoof" tomorrow and will report back, if there's anything to report like. Hubby did see the helicopter and was curious himself.

I was there and the only incident that springs to mind was a young lady in a wheelchair who parked herself in front of a bus and refused to move! At first we all thought someone had been run over, what with all the police and ambulance activity. They moved her on, but as I was leaving some time after five she had done the same thing again at the stop opposite WHSmiths. Don't know about the helicopter, didn't hear one myself.

As an extra, what did anyone think of the festival? Or were you all at the country fair in Herne Hill (where I heard things really did kick off big time on Saturday)?

Dunno about this one, but BonkersFest on Camberwell Green on Saturday was good :))
