Strawbs I have no idea what an HD box is either but I would council not finding out. As soon as you know what it is you will no doubt feel an inconsolable emptiness in your life that can only be filled by a dirty great box full of HDs (whatever they may be).

Trust me, I had a similar experience with a thing called a career.

Before you even think of a hd (hi def) box you need a hd tv. If you have one of those them a hd box usually means a satellite box. . Such as a sky box. But the one with hd capability. Only about 20 channels show hd content at the mo and if you dont love movies or sport its really not worth it. If you do love them and have the money then they are lovely. Not essential. . . But then again neither is any tv. Except for watching the wire. Obviously. .

HDTV is amazing , but if youve never seen it, you wont know your missing anything.

BVest way to get HD box (box which can decode high definition satellitle pictures) iS on Freessat HD. HD will be availble on terrestrial freeview in 2010 but you will need a new freeview box to get that.

see my post re buying a new tv advice in the lounge

    • But when was it posted?! I haven't posted any this year. I can't bring myself to pay the exorbitant cost of the stamps. If I can't hand deliver them, I send e-cards. I know it's not the same, but it's very much easier. And as for the people who still send pages of closely handwritten letters .... very admirable in terms of the hours it must have taken them to write them,  but they remind me of those spoofs eg x has just passed all their many important exams with the highest marks possible, y has just walked round the world in a week, z has just become the first person ever to be knighted twice, we are about to fly off for our fifteenth exotic holiday this year ....... Or else (or sometimes and) they are full of who has had what illnesses and accidents and other catastrophes. Is this just my relatives and distant friends? Am I somehow attracting these reams of handwritten paper?
    • Oh, I didn't know that! I didn't move here till 1991 (I think) but the NCR incarnation must have been around that time? Unless my failing memory is even worse than I thought it was, sob.
    • I just googled, and apparently there's another branch of the Soho Street Govinda's  in Theobald's Road. I had no idea.
    • yes that's the one!  it was (nearly) harmless fun to get the un-initiated to put the coin in for you i also seem to remember that the Hanway Street place was called Govinda's.  it was vegetarian, vegan even - but it was much more palatable fare than the standard Hare Krishna stuff.  I also used to go tot he Indian Y - which I remmber discussing on the EDF some eyars ago.  And then the first Wagamama opened off Russell Street
