I saw some gaunt looking welly wearing middle class mothers loitering with their toddlers in Halloween costumes earlier this morning. I always buy a small bucket of haribo sweets and leave them in the window, when said trick or treaters knock I don't answer and wave at them from my living room window hehe. I'm a wicked old bat

For once noone is going to disagree with your post Louisa.

Edited to say - well done Louisa, i'm sure all sweets are gratefully received.

Mick, Louisa leaves the sweets by the window INSIDE the house I think.

The shops on Sydenham Road are doing a thing where they give dressed up kids sweets. I have no problem with that, but I am a bit bar humbug about door knocking.

We do answer and give sweets out though.

My Canadian missus goes large for it every year so I kind of play along. But I got told off for handing out unwrapped penny sweets (from Hope and Greenwood too!). Apparently they have to be wrapped sweets to be politically correct and "middle class safe". That means a massive fizzy snake fest for me tonight.
Apparently Otta, the rules around our hood are that if you haven't got a halloween sticker on your front door, the kids aren't allowed to knock. Just found that out from a local estate agent. I've now got to eat 3 jumbo bags of chews and lollies.

Penny sweets, plural? You've changed...not down with Trick or Treat, we called it Guising.
