Dear People,

It would seem that some forumites have made a 'formal complaint' against my use of the above in some of my postings.

(Swearing with the use of profanity is not big and it is not cleaver. Although it can sometimes be the only language that is understood across the board... as well as being a bit of a ruddy good laugh. But that's just me.)

I would like to apologies to those forum members whom I have upset.

I shall make sure I edit my future posts for all verbose and invective (thank you RosieH) language thoroughly before clicking the 'post message' button.

I thank you.

Yours MW74

(keeping the world madder since 1974)

tell them all they can fucking well cunt off the bunch of fucking fuckfaces

haha, realise the swear translation doesn't recognise that last word - do you think the administrator will get me

(oh and burn the crocs, really. how can you use a judiciously placed "c*nt" when your feet are encased in day-glo plastic?)

Yes it is easy to offend.

The other day I mentioned 'sweating like a rapist' I got all kinds of stick, so I'll not mention that again.

I didn't even swear, and I upset somebody.

Jah lush thought it was using an abbreviated version, that rankled with people, and the full quotation is 'sweating like a paedophile on a school bus', which was very courageous of Jah to put me right;-)

I am very pleased I no longer offend any edf readers.:))

Thanks Jah.

i have just fallen off my perch with laughter!

It is odd how some sear words take on a life all of their own.

Thus "Tw*t" is concidered rather mild, whereas "C*nt" is concidered beyond the pale; yet both words refer to a lady's front bottom.

The male genitalia seem fair game, indeed "Cock" has been popularised by James May on Top-Gear (a lifestyle programme specialising in Green issues and alternative forms of transport - for those who do not have TVs and indeed a statement which could be described as "Cock" in this context).

I quite like "Cock" but dont like "C*nt" and yet feel drawn to the fairer sex, I am so confused.

P.S. Interestingly I now discover that bh "Tw*t" and "C*nt" require an asterix to be show on the Forum, whereas "Cock" does not. Sexist!!

But, cock as in 'cock and bull' isn't rude. And cock has for a long time been used as in 'cockney sparra' which is no ruder than 'me old china'. And cock is generally used as the male equivalent of hen and also is not rude. It's quite rare in everyday language to use cock perjoratively as in penis.

Whereas Le Coq Sportif is rude cos it's French and everything they do is wrong.

[And my old English teacher would be turning in her grave.]

For pure poetic use of swearing in all its wonderful hues you have to check out deadwood swearing and larry Davids cursing masterclassprofanities opera...should brighten your day. I'm such a luddite I dont actually know how to give you the direct link, go the extra yard and enter 'deadwood swearing' and "profanities opera" into the you tube search engine and your reward shall be a rich one. Oh, and maybe someone could let me know how to add a link...its getting embaressing now.

Well done for apologising Maddie, can't say I was ever on the direct receiving end of your invective, and I can't say that I've ever noticed you being overly sweary. But maybe you were and I missed it, I'm a dopey c@nt cometimes.

Oh and if you want to use a phrase to express discomfort you could always employ 'sweating like a bankrobber' or for greater emphasis 'shaking like a hound shitting peach pits'.

Edited for spelling like a cock.

I really don't have an issue with great and profound swearing.

Including the CUNextTuesday word, which I use now and again myself with no embarrassment.

If everyone swore it would lose its ability to offend.

And the sooner that happens the better for all of us.

And anyone who thinks otherwise are a bunch of Cun*s.

But to read it regularly or even occasionally on a Forum? Hmm. Let's think.

Mmm.

Nahhhh phuckit that don't bother me either.

Context is all. I don't mind swearing one bit. Can make you laugh or make you scared. It can make you sit up and listen. I love humour, and I get upset by hatred. If the profanities are linked to humour i embrace them - but if they are connected to hatred I don't like it.

    • Genuine question- are wild flowers/weeds better for wildlife than cultivated flowers? My cultivated flowers and their seeds attract birds, bees and all kinds of insects, maybe more so than wild flowers.
    • Sue. It's a long journey trying to change the long established mindset that many of us grew up with, namely cultivated flowers are good and wild flowers anywhere other than in the wild are bad. My job as a child was to go round pulling up all the dandelions that dared to invade my Dad's pride and joy of a garden. I still battle with my Mum, trying in vain to convince her of the benefits of so called weeds in her garden. Her neighbours, all of a certain age, are the same. Anyone who doesn't attack any weed with gusto is the subject of Mum's disapproving neighbours. We can only keep trying to convince others of the benefits of these much maligned flowers.
    • You might leave copies of this post on the windscreens of any cars that you think may have been issued with parking tickets before you saw the suspension notices being put up.  Include some contact details -- at least your forum username -- so that the owners can contact you if they wish to dispute the tickets on the ground of unlawfulness. Eventual feedback here -- presumably this would be evidence of a cancellation of any such tickets  -- would be very welcome.
    • I've got more problems with people paving over their gardens, plastic grass and the like.  Perhaps see what Southwark say on line about managing their pavements.
