OK, so this thread has had eight people 'in favour' of a new charity shop, three 'against' and eleven neither for nor against in an obvious way or simply pointing out matters of fact. How is this 'very Daily Mail'? Or is that phrase just an updated 'talk to the hand' lazy thread-stopper?

Fuelled by others that make such silly statements like yours too eh? ;-)

Me? Na dont get me envolved :-p

I agree with what was said about the Manager of the small St Christopher's shop. She practically lives there from what I can see! She is devoted to that shop and it seems to be a huge success because of her.

There is also a rather charming elderly gent who sometimes works there on Fridays , he seems to know loads about art and antiquities and is always very helpful!

Don and Ellen at the big shop are also excellent!

I totally agree!

Sorry Sue, but that sounds really bitchy.

As I see it a local forum should be a friendly place where people can voice their opinions, have a healthy debate,

agree disagree whatever-I feel I have as much right to be here as everyone else even if sometimes I do find it a bit Daily mail/MumsNet-ish.

Others may consider it too full of Guardian readers.

We are all different, we all have opinions thats the Joy of it!

Don't worry, Sue - NewWave's passive-aggressive post is a classic of the genre:

1. Post opinion

2. Read someone's reply disagreeing

3. Make 'ad hominrm' comment to person replying, possibly including the word 'bullying', though 'bitchy' will do (references to Daily Mail, The Guardian and MumsNet are optional)

4. Approve of 'healthy debate' and being 'friendly' - code for 'agree with me or stage 3 might be repeated'

I believe its permanent.

As to it opening today? unsure.

What I especially like about this shop is that due to Marys fashion connections you have new donations from designers at a fraction of the price.

For instance yesterday I saw Karl Donaghue earmuffs in sheepskin which are ?150 in Liberty for ?30!

    • Harvey and Wheeler in Dulwich Village? Only one I know… How can they offer to apply and never did? Surely; whether they are managing the property or not and with tech been so advanced I would have thought they would have been a couple of e mails sent as a reminder or, is it the Landlord’s responsibility to apply… Rental Law/ Bill has just come  into force  - can’t remember if it was this week or last and have been to busy to read..
