Local produce

Just watching Jamie and Jimmy championing a local cheese....

Is there a thread for truly local produce. I've had some Peckham bread and seen Dulwich honey......but is there anything else? Any local cheeses etc?!

My son has bought Bermondsey made cheese from the North Cross rd market which is on Saturdays.

I think the Bermondsey cheese is actually welsh and just matured in Bermondsey.

There is however a cheese made in Brockley along with the Brockley brewery and another brewery in Peckham.

My company's name is east dulwich naturally and all my jams and jellies are made from local fruit and veg either which I've grown on my allotment or collected from local Gardens ! There's also The Brick Brewery in Peckham, just started production a few weeks back.

Peckham Honey usually available in Marsden Rd Wildlife centre. Very floral.

BNG - do you know how to get hold of some Clarkshaws beer?

I think they're experimenting with bottling, but currently I think it's only available on draught at a variety of local pubs. Their website gives a map of them, but for up-to-date info, their Facebook page is helpful.

Blackwoods Cheese Company is based in Brockley and they sell at Herne Hill Sunday market. They have a facebook page. Tried and bought some today.

Talking of the Herne Hill Sunday market, their website states: "locally produced foods and arts & crafts from within 100 miles of the market". So I'm looking forward to West Country cheese from Bath, dressed crabs from Southwold, crisp apples from Worcester - and lovely fresh fish from Boulogne. They might not have stuff that's been flown from half way round the world, but it's not exactly what most people would call 'local'.
