Could you not go directly to an Apple Store? If you have a good household insurance, it should be covered under that, mine was.

Timpson are now doing phone repairs (just got them to replace my iPhone battery)

The phone shop more or less next to ED station on the corner of Melbourne Grove do screen repairs - you drop the phone off with them on one of two days during the week (can't remember which) and it is available later that evening for collection. Had one of our iPhone 4s done there - all was fine.
