I reckon if Youngs took the site on and had the team behind Dulwich Wood House going in to sort it out as some sort of 'sister' pub/dining experience, they could promote walks through the woods connecting the two establishments I can't think of anything better than a nice summers day walk between the two places for a beer or even in winter a nice open log fire in both. Foresight is needed with this one. Come on Dulwich Estate put those thinking caps on please.

I actually emailed Youngs a year ago after being so impressed by a stay in one of their hotels in Claygate.

I suggested the Harverster as a location, but didn't hear anything back from them.

I think a hotel in the area would be great. There are so many wedding venues around here that it would make sense to have somewhere nearby for guests to stay.

Spot on. What were once two great pubs have been completely ruined so much so they no longer resemble pubs. The Clock House has had the most horrific makeover that makes it look like some awful ersatz pizza chain restaurant whilst The Dulwich Woodhouse resembles a Berni Inn from the 70s.

As someone who owns a property on Dulwich Estate land, which means having to deal with them on a fairly regular basis, all i can say is that this: "Foresight is needed with this one. Come on Dulwich Estate put those thinking caps on please" is a wildly optimistic request.

Glacial is the word i would use with regard to the pace at which things happen with them.

Glacial.

Last time I went to the Wood House I nearly lost the will to live. Shame, given it's so near the woods and would be a nice place to go after a walk.


Quite like the new Clock House decor, and it seems to me a vast improvement on how it was before, especially at the back, but I would not eat there again unless I was desperate.


And I don't think I could ever be that desperate .....

I presume it has listed status?

Am I right in thinking that Robert Browning went to school here? obviously not when it was a pub!

Would love to see it come back to life as a pub/ restaurant again. Have many happy memories of it as the Grove.

Then it got ruined, much as the Woodhouse did.

      I bought a carpet swiper few years ago and it’s a game changer, mostly on the rug, couple of minutes in the morning during the week, cleans all the crumbs , pet hair etc.

      I totally recommend Aria and AFE plumbing. He managed the renovation of a bathroom and refurbishment of a kitchen. He also helped with other smaller jobs around the flat. He was conscientious, communicated every step of the way, was helpful and did a great job. His team are nice people - which always makes a difference - and really  detailed in their work.       I’ve been thinking about how different people manage their homes, especially when life is busy and there never seems to be enough time. Some do a little each day, some blitz at weekends, and some just tackle things when they can’t stand it anymore!   Here are 3 things I’ve noticed help a lot:   1. Start with one reset: Choose a single room (often kitchen or bathroom) and get it back to baseline.     2. Keep a simple kit: Just a handful of reliable products and cloths make it easier to get started.     3. Mini resets: 10–15 minutes daily stops everything from sliding back.       Personally, in my own home I do a quick evening routine — tidy up, hoover, flat mop (it’s quick and easy), a room spray, and fabric freshener. Then at the weekend I’ll do a deeper clean.   I’m curious — what works for you? Do you have any routines, hacks, or tricks that help you keep on top of your home?   I’m always looking for ways to grow and develop the services I run. My aim is to support busy, overwhelmed people who need a practical helping hand.
