Threads "nasty and insulting"?? This may be true of the occasional comment but even in this thread the positive and supportive posts for the Threshers' staff have far outnumbered the couple of unpleasant ones. And I think you can see this repeated in other threads about various pubs and shops etc....Most posters go out of their way to praise bar staff and shopkeepers etc even when severely criticising the place they work in/for. And they seem to aim for objectivity and constructive criticism I think...

There have been a couple of cases where certain shopkeepers have been given a lot of flak....but these are the exception not the rule and there's usually been unusual circumstances provoking these.

Of course if Jasmine's neighbours work for Foxton's and/or support Manchester United then her post makes perfect sense...:))

DPF rather proving Jasmine's point there I think? ;-)

Mind you, it is rather ironic Jasmine that you'd taint the 90% of positive comments because of the 10% of unpleasant ones. It's rather like you're committing the very crime you're accusing others of?

I like the ladies in Threshers very much. They had a nice line in Nobilo and Villa Maria Sauvignon Blancs plus a couple of mainstream central Italian reds like Montepulciano that you couldn't get elsewhere on LL.

I never asked them to help me out, but they were charming and welcoming without being asked and that was good enough for me.

(They did tip off home early occasionally which was a bit frustrating.)

Jasmine - I agree that a couple of comments on the thread were a tad unkind, however this is a forum that 'tells it as it is' - not sanitised and (seldom) censored. This means that a variety of points of view will be put forward, some of which you may not agree with. I would honestly rather it was like that than we all roundly praise everywhere and everyone even if praise is not due.
Telling it like it is should not involve personal insults. If you think a shop is rubbish, fine. If you think a staff member is rude, fine. However, coming on here and making nasty comments about people who have always been lovely is not fine. I do however agree that the majority of posts on this thread are actually very nice about the staff. Perhaps someone should highlight the supportive comments to them.

Yeah, its been a real character assassination hasn't it, be strong though Jasmine because good will always prevail.

    • There was another unprovoked attack on Monday this week on a young woman nearby (Anstey Road) at 6.45pm. Don't have any other details, it was posted on a Facebook group by her flatmate. Pretty worrying  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EGfDrCAST/
    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
