Hi Pam

Just wanted to add my comment about my recent experience of Kings A&E. I recently had to visit A&E in the early hours of the morning and was very satisfied with my treatment and care at Kings. The care and attention I received was fantastic - it was quiet in A&E at the time so this may have helped, although I see this wasn't the case for Indya (hope you're feeling better now Indya).

I was vomiting violently throughout my initial triage but felt really well cared for and subsequently had a thorough MOT with the medics including scanning for a suspected triple A which turned into an ultrasound teaching opportunity for the junior doctor (with my full permission of course). They explained everything to me as they carried out their tests, kept me fully informed and I felt very safe in their care.

That's great ontherun. Once you're admitted to the wards though, it's sometimes pot luck on the care you receive.

If you don't have family/friends I dread to think how many patients get by.

As posted, my Mum was due an op a couple of years ago in day surgery and it was only because we noticed a discrepancy on her operation for the next day that she could have ended up with the wrong breast removed. I can't imagine what effect this would have had on my Mum on waking up! She had been the strongest person there for her extended family before this.

They do ,don't they ? I've had several bad and some very bad experiences , can't actually think of any good ones .

The majority of my really bad experiences have been where the patient was elderly .The bad ones have involved me .

It seems to come down to the individuals who see you in the hospital . Can't be right surely ?

    • Many years ago, I actually cooked a meal for all who wanted to come ….. In this day and age, with social media being in our faces..yes, I don’t live in ED, but visit,  why doesn’t Christian spirit happen? I would think, few people even know their neighbours…. Life, busy etc. We all live in one world..human kindness is all around..In a city, people are scared to make human contact, especially when who knows what might happen. Can clearly remember, coming back in summer with friends,  side door had been jimmied.. nothing was taken from inside.. When I lived in ED and when I visit, it is Me who starts a conversation.. never know where that might lead, or in deed where it might take one.. Notice my post, in general did not have response I was hoping for .. that is fine.. So, Will start again, and ask personally.how can I thank or make a donation to keep forum going.. We should be proud, to have a forum like this..
