ZoeG
We've got south facing non cavity walls in our old victorian terrace that have sprouted damp patches since these spate of storms over Winter. We did have someone come over and quote us but they disappeared. Can anyone recommend someone who's any good at this?Ta Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42223-recommendations-wanted-for-someone-to-fix-our-penetrating-damp-problem/ Share on other sites
DirtyBox
Most damp is for reasonably obvious and easily sorted reasons, in my Victorian terrace house it's been:- blocked gutters- blocked drains- bad seals round windowsWhere is the patch?Take a look at what's going on outside round the damp patch, it's probably a gutter that is a bit blocked so overflows when the rain gets heavier but you may not notice during "normal" rain Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42223-recommendations-wanted-for-someone-to-fix-our-penetrating-damp-problem/#findComment-730035 Share on other sites
ZoeG
Yes there are a couple of obvious places where the water has gotten in like where a boiler flu used to protrude but I'm wondering if the damp patches that are appearing up to 2 meters below are from this? And a foot above? Capillary action? gedwina
It could be coming through from the brick work if the pointing work is old and needs redoing - we had the front of ours repointed and this sorted the damp - a good firm to get in we have found is called Tapco - they charge for an initial inspection but knock this off the final bill if you use them Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42223-recommendations-wanted-for-someone-to-fix-our-penetrating-damp-problem/#findComment-732088 Share on other sites
