uncleglen
Since yesterday we have experienced text messages being sent up to 7 times each. The O2 website says that a mast may not be working in the area! It's working overtime if you ask me. SebsC
Same here since Monday.spent an hour on phone to apple support as I presumed it was a fault with phone but they couldn't find any problem. Will now call 02 and no doubt be told it has nothing to do with them! SebsC
Ok so I did live chat with O2 support and have to say they were very helpful. Was told it was a problem they were aware of and were working on. As I am on a plan where I only have limited text allowances, I asked them if I'd get back my allowance for the wasted sent texts. I was told for every text sent where multiples were sent I'd get back those texts - hope that makes sense! They also got me to reset all my settings, take out SIM card and wipe it and gave me a code to call from my phone. Not sure what all that did however since then I have been sending texts without any problems. muffins78
Oh this is me too! My out going texts are saying failed, but apparently been sent 7/8 times and I can't receive messages! Glad to know it's not just me, thought my phone died - but had noticed it had worked in London earlier in the week. Off sick now and feel like no contact with the outside world as a result :( That might be seen as a good break too :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42670-o2-text-problems/#findComment-734155 Share on other sites

SebsC
Spoke again with O2 this morning who began by saying there was no fault in the area and it must be a fault with my phone. I showed her the online conversation I'd had with O2 on Friday where they said there was a fault in the area, and how they had checked my phone and ruled out any problems with it. I also told he about the EDF and all the other people who were reporting the same problems. At first she persisted with the fact it was my phone and yet again went through all the unnecessary checks. I insisted that it MUST be an area problem as as soon as I went outside of the area, my texts sent properly. Anyway, upshot is she will log it with the engineers but as not many people have apparently reported it, it is not seen as urgent. So, if you're experiencing these problems, please report it to O2 to escalate the urgency! numbers
has anyone else been charged extra by O2 for sending text messages with emoticons in them? I get 'free' text messages but noticed they were charging more each month and when I queried it, they explained that whenever I use an emoticon they treat that as a multimedia message which is chargeable if I go over a limit. Wasn't exactly clear in the small print. Their adviser told me to use facebook messenger and whatsapp instead (I already do).I know I deserve all I get for using :) :)) :((sorry if this is slightly off topic, just being nosey) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42670-o2-text-problems/#findComment-734571 Share on other sites
Bluerevolution
were you sending via MMS (Media Message Service) ? SMS (Short Message Service-or Text) is inclusive but not MMS Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42670-o2-text-problems/#findComment-734755 Share on other sites
StraferJack
if you typed a smiley and it changes it to MMS, that's naughtif you inserted a smiley pic, then yeah more obviously MMSIn any case far better to use whatsapp or similar app for texting/messaging as everything, including video is free Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42670-o2-text-problems/#findComment-734760 Share on other sites
numbers
Blue - I was sending as SMS (or so I thought), thanks for that didn't know that mms wasn't inclusive.SJ - no I didn't type a smiley, I downloaded the emoji keyboard and I use that (mainly for the emojis that aren't smileys). am using whatsapp much more now but if there's a rubbish signal it doesn't work well.
