Now you're just making things up. That sounds like a crossover involving and '80s lawyer show and Star Trek.

No, people come and go throuhout the evening

I'm driving a mini-bus to cornwall tonight with Mr Chav, Chavette and grand Chav to go to my friend's beachhouse weekend party so thought getting drunk beforehand may not be a good idea!

I had wanted to try to make it tonight too.

Have a good one anyway guys.

A quietish night at the Magnolia tonight, about a dozen or so forumista's and a lurker called David. I also met Azul who sported a tee shirt with a large paper clip.

I somehow managed to push in front of David Carnell, at the bar in a butch-pink sweater, he took it like the gentleman he is.

SeanmacG was there with his lady, Buggy, and Annaj without bigNo.5 and Allycat without 'Onions'.

Andrew the photographer was saving a fortune on electricity and pixels, and Michael P came later on just after Keef came in from the cold, having had a brief visit to Marlbrough country. Georgia had arranged it and the music was off so we could talk.

A vast improvement from the forum's trip to the noisy 'Magdala'. Sorry for missing anyone off the listings, my memory is just crap. Some ladies known to the landlady wanted to meet SimonM............the lucky git.

It was a very quiet night, lowest turn out I've seen for ages. However, it was a bit of a strange night in ED really, the Bishop, EDT and Cherry all looked half empty, and nothing like your average Friday night on Lordship Lane. I'd hoped to rejoin the group, but it was just a sleepy night really, noone seemed to have the energy to really liven up, me included!

Anyway, it was nice to see those who were there, and thanks to Rose for making us welcome at the Mag. Also, what a great coup getting Rueben (sp?) from the Plough behind the bar. Really nice guy, and good barman to boot.

As for the place, I actually rather liked it, friendly staff, nice beer from clean pipes, and a decent looking wine list. It is not really all that different from the old mag*, just a bit... calmer I guess is the word. Seemed to have a healthy crowd in there, and I hope it does well.

*Changes have been made, and I think they're for the better, but it's still the same place really.

100% agree with Keef.

Particularly good to see Reuben back in ED. Had a quick chat with him about the Plough and its loss if direction.

I think that the Mags will benefit greatly from Reuben's creatvity and energy.

You sound like a teacher speaking to a parent about their rebellious teenager.

Sorry I missed all you guys again!

Although I think I'm heading out in ED tonight so chances are I'll run into some of you in the various iniquitous establishments that populate our little corner of this wicked city.

It was certainly an exclusive group last night, quite a contrast to recent busy forum drink-ups.

Lovely to see everyone though and, as I may have said once or twice last night, I really like the new Mag. I think Rose has done a great job, it's a comfortable, welcoming space and could easily be my favourite bar in the area (particularly when the heating is sorted. It was a little chilly!).

Rose herself was there last night and made us really welcome - Cheers Rose!

    • It was lucky nobody was on the bridge beneath the tree when it fell. It's hard to see, but it doesn't look like a whole tree, but a branch? Or else it's a relatively thin trunk? What seems to be the point where the branch (?) joined the tree - or else the point where the whole tree broke off - (on the bottom left of the picture) looks like quite a clean break. It couldn't have been deliberate, could it? Or has someone trimmed it after it fell? It's hard to see how this could have happened accidentally. It has been a bit windy, but surely not enough to cause this. Shouldn't there have been a risk assessment when the bridge was built, to include assessing the risk of nearby trees falling?
    • Hi, we have been looking for a reliable and efficient electrician for sometime now. We are not keen on hourly rates, Leon provides fair job prices. We just had some electrical work done for us by Leon. He arrived and just got it done quickly. Leon has a positive can do attitude which is a real pleasure to have around our house. This is the second time we have used Leon and we will be getting him back again.    Thank you cat woman for recommending Leon here.    His number is 07707 925039
