Sounds like it was just what I needed after a tough week at work. Glad a good time was had by all. (Saw Mr Andrew D Black in Mon Petit Chou this morning, sneaking in for a crafty croissant and coffee. Mentioned that it had been quietish)

I wonder whether it was something to do with a distinct change of weather over the course of the week. Last weekend was Summery and then during the week Autumn arrived with cold dark mornings and evenings. People like to snuggle up at home after a hard week at work.

Miserable sods :))

The number of photos is a barometer of the number of people. Here are the photos - http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrewblack/sets/72157607719571956/. I think this one should be a caption competition -

I will try to get round to uploading those from the Duke too....

Met with two lovely people from this forum yesterday afternoon.

Discussed going to the EDForum meetings and then today see the photos and know why I would not want to go!

Don't want a picture of my mush plastered up on someone's Flickr account ruining everyone's dinner!

Cheers for the pics Andrew

I thought the pub itself was nicely busy but a lack of music for most of the night hindered atmosphere. The turn-out for forum drinks was lower than usual but thems the breaks. Those that did turn up were good company.

I think the care and will to succeed from the owner is palpable. It's as far from a corporate pub as can be - I would echo Annaj's comment and say that it has become a favourite of mine in short time. And getting Reuben on board is, as Keef says, a great coup

Actually I recall hearing about the tears and tribulations of Green and Blue, if not here then most definitely on their blog - news of which spilled onto here, rather like a cheap cloying sweet sherry.

He was overjoyed that his Oliver Hardy impression was still a hit with the ladies.

::o Mr Andrew D Black.... are you trying to get my in trouble...?!!!! Honestly FO, I was just trying to whisper in Mr P's ear - and errr... missed!

Lovely see everyone who was there the other night - it was my 1st visit to the new incarnation of the Mag I liked it..... it was a tad chilly but the warm welcome from Rose the owner made up for it!!

Agree a bit of background music would have been nice! Will head back soon and check out the food.....

I know a few brace peeps headed to the EDT afterwards.... any gossip anyone?!

I feel I must ride to the defence of the lovely Maiden that is AllyCat. You caught us just after a large poisonous snake had bitten me on the cheek and AllyCat was merely attempting to suck out the poison. Shame on you for thinking otherwise.

Still OK for tonight Ally?

I am favouring Hoopers as it has been ages since last visit, we were looked after well and the beer is good there

But if people favour the Montpelier (near Peckham Rye station - same rd as Review bookshop and teh Wishing Well) I'm ok with that too

    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
