Good question, one difference I have noticed is that rats are often killed by cats, I wish our two wouldn't hunt the horrible things, but I have yet to see or hear of a cat hunting and killing squirrels.

Maybe squirrels are rats with a heightened sense of feline presence?

Well the first difference is that squirrels are squirrels and rats are rats.

They?re both rodents but fill very different niches. Rats are scavengers and will eat anything whereas squirrels are quite selective about what they eat. Because of this, rats live naturally on the ground and in holes where rubbish gathers and squirrels live naturally in tree where they can find nuts.

For both these reasons squirrels are a lot less likely to sneak into your house and crawl up your drainpipe. Therefore we like squirrels and not rats.

Squirrels are also fluffy and unlike rats don?t always get type cast as villains in cartoons.

Well in my chilhood days Tufty Squirrel used to teach us all about road safety, and how to look right, look left and right again before crossing.

If Tufty'd've been a rat we'd've all shat ourselves and just ran into the road in sheer panic and all been killed under lorries.

A whole generation dead because of the wrong choice of rodent.

It makes you think.

But if Tufty Fluffytail had been child friendly Rat on the Road Roland Rat then maybe we would not have done this.

Also, I beleive the only Squirrel actually internatyionally renowned for it's discretion is Secret Squirrel!

Also, my name is not squirrely it's ratty

That's enough to be getting on with ffs!

Frankly this is a ridiculous comparison.:X

When a rat can do the following then lets compare:-

Secret Squirrel served as a secret agent (his designation was "Agent 000"), taking orders from his superior "Double-Q." Secret was assisted in his adventures by fez-wearing side-kick Morocco Mole, a mole. The pair fought crime and evil enemy agents using cunning and a variety of spy gadgets, including a machine gun cane, a collection of guns kept inside Secret's coat, and a variety of devices concealed in his hat (which he almost never removed).

End Of.

Top pictures here! I'd love to see a picture of Asset's cat squaring up against a (grey) squirrel! Haven't seen a red one for over a decade :(

Hmm, crouching squirrel:

I'm saying that's quite sufficient, unless we have amongst us a squirrel that can type, which I doubt, those lolloping nut-collecting interlopers can go and put the fruits of their labours up their bottoms.

I'm going with EDF's own Ratty, who I reckon would face down and send off the feistiest squirrel, with a hearty 'FOOK OFF'

    • that is one cliche-ridden post headnun    it doesn’t mean a sack of beans in the real world  “old fashioned voters” meaning the ones dragging the country down this last 15 years just to laugh at the libs tears. Well done all  I’m not looking back at all. This is not a post Europe world in any sense. There are forces bigger than Europe but uk would be better aligning with Europe against, say, china, the pretending we live in some post Europe world.    and in case you hadn’t noticed, whoever you vote for, there are a LOT of ignorant racists feeling very happy with their resurgence - I would fight against them if I were you
    • No they aren't. You're coming across as a smug, superior liberal, and that's what old fashioned voters (labour, Cons and now Reform) hate. That 'the deplorables' 'they're all ignorant racists' line is what's driving people away from the traditional parties and towards Reform.  You're as guilty of looking back as Labour. This is a new, post-europe world and we all need to come to terms with that, make do with what we have, and move forward.
    • I have sympathy with any voter, anyone, who having witnessed the last 14 years and then Labour in the last year and wonders just how can things be this bad  unless a) they voted for brexit b) voted Tory after 2010 c) is thinking of voting reform  because anyone who thinks reform won’t make things a thousand times worse after voting for the previous?  It is they who are the problem.  They are the reason the country is in the doldrums with an embarrassingly-timid Labour government  Specifically Chris mason - a not very bright right leaning stooge - large part of why bbc news has become grok-level slop
    • In what way? Maybe it just felt more intelligent and considered coming directly after Question Time, which was a barely watchable bun fight.
