Just seen this Billboard at Denmark Hill station and granted it's Monday morning and I'm still pretty fuzzy from the weekend, but I just dont get it....

There are lots of new Times ads at London Bridge - one with a picture of Robert Mugabe looking particularly crafty, and one rather sad one of a tubby boy. No caption. Unless I'm just missing something, I think we're meant to infer a general topic of current interest (obese children, African politics...).

They are all pictures of figures that have been topical in the news lately with a relevantly, poignant word followed by ?times?

Apparently they are advertising some newspaper or other.

It's the second part of the Times' so called "viral" campaign - more info here - in that the ads are now running with the name of the newspaper. Probably doesn't make as much sense unless you saw the original unbranded ads.

As Brendan notes the Independent has started an "ahead of the Times" campaign in response...

The Sun is responding to recent criticism from the Broad Sheets in its latest campaign by countering with their own criticism of them.

Personally,I'm not sure whether these "Tit-For-Tat" tactics will work.

...or the time I saw a "vision in pink" across from my office in Bouverie Street and saw Paula Yates( unknown then) with legs wide open on the desk (sans knickers or indeed any other....:). She was probably 17/18.
